A totally UNINSPIRED choice. He's hired an old buddy (emphasis on old) who was looking for a job. Anybody can do that. No experience with the spread.

I was in denial about this hire. Just refused to believe it. Now I guess it is time to move to the acceptance stage.

Funny, if you read the entire SI article, he had only been an OC twice. Both short stints at Michigan. Surprised Harbaugh posed on this coaching juggernaut

And if you were just going to get a figure head for your offense why not CZA? seems it would be ok to hand him the keys if all your going on is hope.

Having the #1 recruiting class in the country wouldn't have eased the dissatisfaction of this hire. Hope he's the greatest thing since sliced bread, but for now this is a major crap fest. No way to deny that Butch Jones will lose some of his "can do no wrong" support with this hire. jmo

My goodness, how do some of you make it through an entire day? Like, it's seriously depressing how negative some of you are. It's been stated that it will still be Butch's offense, and DeBord could step in and make an immediate impact on the OL and TE's. Christ, can't some of you look at the positive for once? We're coming off our second top-5 signing class in as many years and a bowl win. God forbid you give the guy a chance...

What does this mean told his staff at Michigan he's leaving... Did Michigan not fire their entire staff along with hoke? Surely he wouldn'tbe a new hire of hHarbaugh jumping ship already. Sorry...I don't follow Michigan's or know anything about debord

So the trust Butch people liked Bajakian, right? Because he was Butch's guy? That only makes logical sense.

You can't be a "Trust Butch" guy and also not like Bajakian because Bajakian was a Butch hire too.

I honestly don't know for sure if DeBord would be a good OC for us. I also don't know for sure that he is going to actually be our OC.

But truth is cheap around here. Anybody with an air of self-assured insiderdom can come in here and start collecting instant converts. And start a riot.

It is entertaining though, in a Kong village sort of way.

I'll say what 99% of people on here should say:

I don't know much about the schematics of football. I don't know much about Debord's knowledge of football. I've been wrong about coordinators before. This is not a sexy hire. Let's see what happens.

With this offensive talent it'll be hard to suck.

Go Vols

Was listening to 104.5 here in Nashville and they made a good point about the hire imo. Said that DeBord is here to help groom Azzanni

I think it's a good hire. Fix some things that need fixed but keep the same basic schemes and I think we'll all be happy with the results.

What makes you think this. We don't know what he brings to the table and with that can't assume anything is immediately fixed. You also definitely can't assume things will be the same when he has zero experience with a read option spread, let alone running one.

During DeBord's first year as offensive coordinator in 1997, Michigan won their first national championship since 1948. As the offensive coordinator at Michigan, DeBord posted a 52–11 record.
