DeBord is coming (merged)

Could someone show me in CBJ's contract where his hires have to be vetted by anyone outside of the athletic department and university administration? I would have loved a big name splash hire as well, but I think we're better off with someone Jones doesn't have to learn how to work with at this point in the game.

Besides, the proof will be on the field this fall. I'll make my determinations then - as we all should.

Now hold off... He never said it was for OC. It could be a number of things; OL coach, administrative type role, Co-OC. The only thing that would confuse me is that he and Coach Z have two opposite offensive styles. I can't see how that would work together.

It's Butch's call. I hope he knows what he's doing. We are on an upswing so I hope this doesn't become his Clawfense. If the guy that gutted the gators in the bowl game shows up then we will all be happy. Not what wanted but I will reserve judgment till I see the in field results.

Burn, Volnation, burn!!!
Lol!

Lol I think we all knew deep down who was going to be hired, but were holding out hope for a surprising result. Unfortunately, that was not the case. I almost feel like Butch offered DeBord the job on the spot, and had no intentions of interviewing any other candidates and that's a bit troubling to me.

Lol. You'd say the same thing if they hired that dart throwing chimp to call the plays.

It'll be ok. As soon as he calls a down the field bomb on first down that's successful, idiots on this board will proclaim him the 2nd coming of the Messiah and can't believe that CBJ didn't hire him sooner.

Haha, Doyle, you're enjoying this far too much, far too quickly. Put down those marshmallows and weenies!

As long as he stays the f out of game planning and lets butch run his offense then ok.

We all knew it.... now that Butch has everyone elated with our signing class, he pays his old mentor back and hires a guy who isn't even coaching, or even coaching as an OC.... I get that he is brought in just to run the existing system and that is all well and good, but this is not a long-term solution. Heard he is one hell of a recruiter though... wait, never mind.... Just can't understand why he would smokescreen for so long and actually ACT like he was looking at other folks and he was "humbled" at the interest in the job- BS. Oh well, hope someone gives him enough coffee if we play any night games so he stays awake at the wheel....
