Debord first game score card

I approve this message. Dobbs threw high a lot yesterday, even on his completions... symptom of dropping his elbow. Wish he had better throwing mechanics, but it is what it is. He ran way too much ... will not last the season running that much.

Where did you coach qbs at? He is dropping his elbow you say? You agree that Dormady should come in if someone shuts the run game down? Lol. Dobbs looked great. Anyone that says otherwise has an agenda.

If AirDobbs threw for 400 yards and we only ran for 200, many VFs would be upset DeBord didn't run enough when in actuality, he ran the ball to win the game, and did just that. All critics to the back of the line, please!!

Some of you just seem to want to try and find something negative to say about the offense. I wonder if your just waiting for the offense to have a bad game so you can say "LOOK I TOLD YOU SO DEBORD SUCKs!!!! THIS OFFENSE DOESN'T WORK."

That makes no sense.

A tight game where the defense isn't helping the cause... We are running for 6 yards a carry with the most vanilla plays we have....

And you want to throw 40 times, PRECISELY because we know the passing game is inconsistent?

Talk about jamming the square block into the round hole. Glad you aren't calling plays.

Baptism by fire isn't going to somehow make our passing game worlds better today than it was on Friday.

It absolutely could jeopardize the game and give OU all of our favorite route combinations though.

Gashing the defense and you want to change it up precisely because it's working. WTF.
Yeah let dobbs run it himself about 40 times against Western, they will never be able to stop us and Florida will have no clue what we're going to do against them.

Or
Maybe we have a 50/50 pass run the first three games and our passing ability catches up with our run game. And maybe we will beat Florida and Georgia Ark. This year.

I am sure you like plan 1, and if dobbs gets hurt running all the time it will be ok cause dormancy will for sure be good at handing the ball off by then!

As several have mentioned, you can't grade Debord on this first game. We held back a lot and rightfully so. Wait for the Oklahoma game, and that will be a good indicator.

Not impressed.
Dobbs has taken a step back. Doesn't read defenses well. If you can't move the ball down the field with a 5star and four 4 star WRs against this defense, you got issues.

You serious ? I don't like using R-word but making comments like this are very tempting. We had 8TDs, 399 Yards rushing, 60% passing efficiency, no turnovers and had enough time to give our second team 4th quarter. All that and you found time to start a thread about Offense and DeBord ? Please enlighten me

Here it is again, what is it about a 176 passer rating that some of folks fail to grasp?

Hopefully they'll just bench his ass. He's horrible. Give me one of the true freshmen, the walkon Jancek or someone from the film room. Anybody but Dobbs because he sucks. I mean, on some of those throws, the WRs actually had to move their hands and stuff. You can't win with a QB like him. Get him out.

You took the words right out of my mouth.

It didn't help that Debord took the ball out of his hands so much too and wasted 399 yards on the ground.

Expel Dobbs. Fire Debord.

Go smokey grays!

Vanilla offense... still puts up 42 points with a ton of time left... still complainingand whining...
You noticed that, too? Some of these whiny VNers are just as delusional as the USCjr. fans down here who think the game chickens beat a national power in UNC and will most likely win the SEC...just on the opposing end of the spectrum from our crowd. The obvious conclusion to this game was understood by Butch, et al, since last winter, so he...as well as any other HC...is going to play straight vanilla; man coverage and static sets on defense and predictable plays on offense. I know that's hard for some of these boys to grasp, but at least a couple of us picked up on it. Ho boy!:eek:lol:

Yeah he could of been 30 of 43 and we still would of won easily, and not ran 12 times.
That's a gamble , 12 chances to get hurt against a team that it was not needed.
And the freshman WR could of got some good game experience .

I don't question dobbs ability , just his opportunity !

You serious, Clark?

The confidence the O line gained is invaluable. When BG had cut the lead we get the ball on our own 4, we rammed it down their throats for a 96 yard drive for a TD. I remember thinking now that is taking over the game with our strength. It was a pleasure to watch.

It was very nice to see. Nothing gimmicky, just did what the team does well and there was nothing the opposition could do about it. It had to be a confidence booster.

Is this a serious thread? Some of you need to stop watching football, it's too complicated and you clearly have grasp of it. I thought Vandy had idiot fans

Good grief the disrespect Dobbs gets from this fan base is beyond retarded. In all honesty, what more could you want? I will agree that he has to improve more on his downfield passing, but it has already improved from last year. The guy completes almost 70% of his passes, 2 TDs, ZERO INTs, almost 100 rushing yards and a TD. Anyway you slice it, those are good numbers.

So OP Hurd looks slow? Compared to who? Kamara? Ok I might give you that but he is much bigger. Kamara is the burner in this group so if Hurd bulked up and lost some speed, thats cool with me. Kelly looked really fast as well. I guess until Dobbs has a perfect game and Hurd out runs every fast player on the field there will always be fans who will be ignorantly critical.

Finally got to watch the remainder of the game today. Anybody knocking that offense must have been watching a different game than I did. O looked like a well oiled machine. Great o-line play, Backs running hard. Not going down on the first hit (when have we seen that kind of effort). Good passes, catches and gains after the completion. One bad call on 3rd down and 11.
Got to find me a defense thread because what I saw today worries me a lot.

Dobbs is light years better. His mechanics are great. His accuracy is right where it needs to be. These three running backs remind me of three running backs I know from
Back in the day. 😁

A+, 59 points and left 14 on the field, that would have made it 73. Pretty damn good. Plus his play calling kept in mind the team, allow defense opprtunity to rest.

Thanks TS, great getting that feedback from you. Hopefully some of these Dobbs critics will back off and appreciate him for the dynamic QB that he is. He's gonna win a lot of games this year and next and he's gonna put up some big numbers while doing it.

Actually, we left 20 on the field with the 2 missed chip shot fgs. Could've/should've been 79 rather than 59.

Debord called a good game, executed the run game and dobbs looks pretty accurate so far. Receivers still have some work on catching the ball but they'll get the hang of it

It's like 40% of VolNation has a mental breakdown during the game, then most of those guys pass out, leaving the other 60% of VN to wander around the carnage trying to reassemble the threads into something approaching rationality. :)

JP, I'm quoting this. It's so true.
