Offense had a big hand in us going 8-4 and very easily could be 6-6 with should have been loses to App. St and GA. Even the Va.Tech game could have gone a completely different way had that not self destructed and go into fumble mode in a 15 minute stretch. We scored 45 points on them and only had 330 total yards. As unlucky as we were last year we more than made up for it this year.There is absolutely no reason we should be 2 plays away from being a 6-6 team. That brings more light to the bad coaching job that Butch and his Coach's did this year. They were showing a stat on Urban the other day talking about him being the best rivalry/big game coach in america..he is like 26-3 in games that fall into that category in his career. Just shows Butch is probably way over his head here and doesn't handle the pressure of big games very well.Which shows in his 5-15 record vs ranked teams lately.

Let me educate you :) They hate him because they predicted failure from the old "swim coach", and when it didn't happen, they nitpick everything in sight. Just like they do CBJ: those that don't like him will never be satisfied no matter what either does.

Dobbs was a huge asset to the team but situational awareness was one of his weak links. This play, the OT pass at A&M, and the pass at USC stick in my mind.

So we want to get rid of an OC that averaged 36 points per game, second in the SEC, against one of the toughest schedules in the nation. This board is amazing.

Yes Shoop had injuries (most of which returned) and they certainly hurt his defense's performance. But Debord has his share as well....pretty much everyone of his OLs were injured all throughout the season, to go along with losing his "workhorse" running back for half the season.

Not saying Debord was great and didn't make some headscratching calls at times. But Shoop was horrific all year long outside of a good second half vs Florida. Unless you want to also count him shutting down that offensive powerhouse App State in the second half as well. lol.

Don't know what you mean Shoop had injuries and most returned. Kirkland and Sutton returned and aren't at full speed. Kirkland went out again against Vandy. He lost 3 DTs to injury and are not coming back and one was dismissed. He lost Maybin, Smith and Saap at LB and McDowell was also injured. He lost Kelly at safety. These players were originally to be the backbone of the Vols defense. Now we are playing DE at DT who are getting run over. Our LBs are second and third teamers and our DBs are getting beat.

The offense wasn't the problem in the losses. The scout team defense that can't tackle and turnovers caused us every loss but Bama. Nobody scores on every possession, and if our defense played remotely like it did last year we would be asking for extensions instead of for Purdue to hire our coach.
