Im going to get slammed for this, but so be it. I love this program as much as anyone, so Ill voice my $.02 as does the next guy. What surprises me most about many of the characters on this board is that if you take a position opposite the majority, youre either a fulmerite, negavol, or whatever. Im not trying to rain on anyones parade, I just think some things are so obvious its extremely difficult to sit back and let it go.
Phil is history. We can all agree on that.
But what we dont agree on is Kiffin and his ability to take us to the next level. Watching the presser confirmed what I believed all along
..this guy doesnt have a clue what he just stepped into. He literally looked like a deer in the headlights, and even his attempt to connect with the Faithful seemed forced. Im sure to him this is the Job of all Jobs and rightly so. But without coaching a game, it is so apparent that he is way, way, way out of his league.
Miss St. might have been a better fit for him. At a place where just making it to a bowl game is enough, Kiffin might have fit right in. At a place where it is understood that youre probably never going to make it to the SEC Championship Game and it is definite that youre never going to win it, Kiffin could have found a place to grow. Instead, he has landed at a place where, no matter what you all are saying now, if you dont beat UF in 3 years, youre a goner.
I wish the man luck. I want him to succeed. I think we have the support, facilities, and players to succeed. I just dont think we have the right coach.
I hope Im wrong. But believe it or not, it wont take 3 yrs to find out. At this time next year, everyone will be a believer
.one way or the other.
