Debate on the "WOO!" Really?

Personally, I don't have a problem with the "Woo"
I think it helps to avoid that pause after "Good ole Rocky Top....Rocky Top Tennessee"

As for the wave, it's kinda outdated. Not to mention it usually occurs at bad times. I think some fans like it because it brings the crowd together in a sense.

Lol, can't imagine how off it would be with out it. Even if you don't say it, it plays in your head, atleast if you have attended a home game. Guess I'm happy either way.
The wave on the other hand, maybe because I live in Atlanta, is for baseball.

-side note- next time I see the wave in Neyland, I'm running straight to the usher and demanding everyone who stood be kicked out. I wanna sit and watch the game!

We just need to get an updated version of the song. Perhaps by the WOOO- Tang-Clan!!

Hey......if the WOOOOOO fits...........

Or maybe we just scrap it altogether and pick another song with Tennessee in it. Perhaps TENNESSEE by Arrested Development.

Or we could all just S.T.F.U. and go with it!! It bothers the piss out of the entire SEC and that's good enough for me!!!

The dreaded wave :banghead2:

But I've never really had a problem with the Woo...Never really got why people don't like it so much...

Because in the old days that's when we would take a drink or throw something, wooo is just lame.

The wooo in Rocky Top? I hate it... Of course I never really liked the song Rocky Top anyway.. That's just me and my musical tastes though...

Expecting flame in 3.. 2.. 1..
People yell WOOOOO!!!! at a host of other things in life. The few knuckleheads need to get over it and get on about their business. You can go on youtube and watch some Iraq War or Afghanistan footage and hear soldiers yell "WOOO-HOOO!!! after taking out Achmed, the terrorist.

Doesn't embarrass me one bit.

I don't care about the "woo," there are greater injustices in the song. See: shortened verse.

Also, I love "Down the Field".

I like the "Woo" and I sing it that way just like the other 90% of the people at the game. I see no problems with it. It's our tradition.

I only enjoy the wave at Colorado football games, because when it reaches the opposing section everyone starts booing.

I was just perusing the Rocky Top Wikipedia page and saw this. I had completely forgotten about Tommy Burnett. Wonder what he would think of the "woo":

Operation Rocky Top

"Operation Rocky Top" was the FBI's code name for a public corruption investigation into the Tennessee state government in the late 1980s which resulted in the eventual suicide of the Tennessee Secretary of State, Gentry Crowell, and the incarceration of several other individuals, most notably state House Majority Leader Tommy Burnett. The focus of the investigation was the illegal sale of bingo licenses.

Easy, tiger. I think you missed my point there. Based on my comment, you really can't compare telling someone to sit down to someone who tells someone to quit throwing things, and then put words in my mouth that I said they're not true fans. I never said that.

It was a joke
