Lord,

Thank you for giving me a brain that doesn't think like the OP.

You reap what you sow.........or at least what others have sown. It really sucks knowing that we have the most delusional fanbase in college football.

I said it months ago....Chip ain't coming. Gruden ain't coming. If you make a change, make it with a coach in the bag. Fanbase demanded immediate change. The boycott. The Rock.

And since when in this country are you now considered guilty even when you've been cleared? Since Clay Travis said so? Geez people. Schiano was probably as qualified as we were going to get. What coach in their right mind would step into this cesspool, especially given ANY other option?

Freaking heartbreaking. This program was just set back another decade........if we're lucky.

Death by loser fans who accept mediocrity such as yourself.

Notice how, every time we ask him to elaborate on why Schiano would have been a great hire, he never seems to respond...

Pretty easy......look at Rutgers record 20 yrs prior and you have your answer. What are you 10? Do you not remember where he took that hapless program?

Death by AD

This is exactly it, if we struggle to find a coach it’s not the fans fault for standing up against a below average hire. It’s the AD for thinking this fan base would be ok with whatever crap coach he rolled out with. The AD should have did what he claimed in the press conference and actually looked for a coach and not just hire the haslam choice. There was no vetting and for him saying he was gonna hire someone with good morals he did the complete opposite. He could have went after any other average coach and not got the full revolt he got with schiano. The Troy coach may not have been popular but at least some would be willing to back it and the rest would’ve just went away quietly.

This is 100% on the AD and at this point he is the only one to blame for not being able to bring in a good coach at this point. He is the one that has made every other decent coach out there now play second fiddle to some barely over .500 tyrant that had zero interest from any other team anywhere in the country, not even a single horrible group of 5 team wanted him.

Read this post.

This wasn't about a singular event. This wasn't only about Schiano and Penn State.

It was about Kiffin. It was about Dooley. It was about Jones.

But, it was also about Pearl, Cuonzo and Tyndall.

It was about Delmonico, Raleigh and Serrano.

It was about the tragic end of the Pat Summit era and watching that program slowly be just another SEC team under Holly. A good team for sure, but not what once was.

It was about an athletic program that arguably is currently inferior to Vanderbilt.

It was about finishing 13th overall in the SEC men's all-sports standings for 2016-17. It's about not producing a men's SEC championship team since 2011 men's tennis.

It was about an athletic program that has failed and disappointed time and again. And through it all, people continued to cheer, support, travel, pay and hope.....only to be lied to, let down, and forced to endure.

But, this time would be different. The President of the school changed. The athletic director changed. All of the past failure was well documented. It could not be repeated. It would not be repeated. This time it was going to be different.

And then it wasn't.

And the people, who only have their voices, stood up and said "hell no". As many have pointed out, it united this fan base like nothing else in a decade. Everyone agreed. Everyone had enough. "Hell no". In a matter of a few hours, the push back was so strong that those in power had no choice but to listen.

I know that Tennessee fans are catching hell in some places, but I can only put myself in your shoes and say "I get it".

That was a post by a Gator fan on this site. He gets it, why don't you?

He was implicated in sworn testimony to have witnesses a child being raped and did nothing about it. But since double hearsay isn't permissible in the court of law and he denied it, then what's the problem? We really missed a diamond in the rough that inexplicably nobody else wants. The fans are killing this program!

You not tough enough to be VFL this is a mans job, we had to stand up and that’s what we did. Not going to except what ever they push down our throats anymore. We will get a coach and we will recover may take a year or two but we will be back jack!!!!!!!!!

That's your argument? Seriously? That right there? He was 68-67, how is the taking it anywhere? Plus, they had one amazing season and then what? Furthermore, what is Rutgers doing now? If he was such a great coach who created a "powerhouse," why aren't we seeing that success continue? Also, what has he done as a DC at OSU? I don't really see talking heads claiming it's the best defense in the land. Oh and what about all the reports regarding his dictatorial like strategy of being a head coach? I seem to remember that being a huge issue with a former head coach, oh that's right, the guy we just fired. Also, why is it that you always resort to insults when someone calls you out? Am I 10? Pretty sure that's SO a 2007 insult. Come one now. We can do better.

For the record, Schiano was not my first choice.....but God knows our delusional fanbase was expecting Chip Kelly to actually come here....or Gruden. I just thought that Schiano might have a chance to turn it around, because (despite what our delusional fanbase believes) the job he did at Rutgers was phenomenal.

Public perception is powerful and not tied to laws of the court. There is no proof of guilt or innocence, which is precisely why you don't hire someone with any connection to Sandusky. It results in exactly this situation.

Negligence and stupidity by the AD is hurting this program, not our dedicated fans.

Fans like you that would gladly accept this disastrous hire are killing this program.

I've never been more proud to be an Alum and Volunteer.

Do we have high and somewhat unreasonable expectations? Sure, but this debacle is not on the fanbase. What should we do, sit back and accept whomever the powers that be decide to hire regardless of who it is and their character/history? Come on. This was nothing short of a failure by the AD and admin. The fans are long suffering, loyal and incredibly tolerant and patient under the circumstances. We've eaten and smiled at the crap sandwiches this admin has shoveled at us. We've payed until it hurt. We have a damned right to be pissed. We have a damned right to complain. We have a damned right to demand more then the likes of Dooley, Butch and Schaino. In short, we've done our part for what...well over a decade. We, the fans, are not the damned problem. We, the fans, DESERVE better.

Does it have to be spelled and make everyone feel worse?

The fan base didn’t change it. It was the boosters who said no way. That much has been documented by pretty much everyone connected. Haslam told Currie who he wanted and the rest of the boosters protested and said they were pulling donations and would not support the hire.

Right now Currie is letting as much blame fall on the fans (the rock was not cool regardless) to shield himself from taking all the blame for this mess.

Had the other boosters not revolted, then Schiano would be our coach right now, protests or not.

Lol. kiffin, Norvell, brohm, are all more qualified and with less baggage than Schiano. Schiano is a jerk, he instructed his team to dive at the knees of kneeling qbs, leaked personal info about freeman when he was at Tampa bay, and was voted the most disliked coach in the league. He's literally the boss level a-hole that you fight after you beat Butch Jones.
