Thanks! I have been working hard for it since my narrow loss last year. You may remember the speech I gave.
To the fans and everybody in VolNation, I'm sorry, I'm extremely sorry. I was hoping for a perfect year of sarcastic post. That was my goal, something I have never done before.
I promise you one thing, a lot of good will come out of this. You will never see any message board poster in the entire country post sarcastic remarks as hard as I will this upcoming year. You will never see someone push the rest of the message board as hard as I will push everybody on VolNation.
God bless.
Where do I pick up my Award?
"Auburn desperately wanted to stay away from the Papa John's Bowl in Birmingham because there was statewide talk in the media of trying to set up a match with Troy, but Auburn absolutely refuses to play Troy. They are terrified of the implications of a Troy upset over them, and Auburn hardly unbeatable. Years ago when Auburn chickened out & backed out of playing FSU, they needed a game to fill out there schedule. Troy's AD at the time called them immediately & told them we would come to Auburn. They told him they would be in touch. They immediately contacted App State & paid them $600,000 to come to Alabama all the way from NC rather than play Troy for likely a smaller payout that also would have been kept in state & could have been used by the system during a time of serious proration. That's how bad Auburn wants to avoid any game with Troy. So I imagine Lowder at Auburn or whoever the bumbling higher ups are at the Barn set things in motion very quickly to make sure Auburn didn't end up in the PJ Bowl in B'ham. Auburn getting the Outback Bowl is a farce. Something's fishy."
stop crying. who cares about 2nd in the east? we went 7-5. Most years 7-5 barely puts you in the hunt for the weedeater bowl.
be happy we get a matchup with a top ranked team that most vol fans have wanted for years.
beating VT does more than the extra payout the ob bowl gives. beating wisx does little more than create a touching storyline about monte going back to tampa. plus,it's at the buttcrack of dawn.

I don't really know what, if anything, he could have done differently, but this is the second time we've ended up in this crappy bowl after finishing second in the east, so it kind of sucks. I don't understand people's mentality of thinking "we're lucky to even be in a bowl game, and should be happy no matter what we get". The team earned the right to play on New Year's Day, and it sucks to seen them have to slum it in Atlanta just because Auburn presold more tickets that us.
Their are a lot of things that happen with bowl payouts that make them not mean near as much as most people think. One of the many farces is if a conference has two teams in the BCS, the lesser of the two gets a lower payout than they would have received had they been that conferences only BCS team. Anyway, that money gets split between all of the SEC. For example, last year Bama went to the Sugar Bowl(a bowl with an $18 million payout). The SEC received $4.5 million. Bama got $1.76 off the top, with the other $2.74 split 13 ways. One part of the 13 went to the SEC. The other 12 was split evenly between all of the SEC schools. Yes, Tennessee received bowl revenue last year. This put Bamas total revenue for that BCS game a tad under $2 million. Yes, they do get a travel allowance to offset some costs, as determined by the SEC Executive Committee, but it is generally not enough to cover the costs of carrying a full support staff, etc. When UGA went to the Sugar to play Hawaii a couple years ago, they spent over $2 million. It is really a losing proposition when it comes to $$$ to be required to travel a greater distance. So don't use the bigger payout argument.
