Dear Eric Berry.

If you would have said Eric hasn't played well the last few games then it would be different. You said he strait up quit on HIS team and he didn't quit. If you want to talk about some one quitting on their team and afraid of getting hurt then talk about Jamal Lewis his senior year.
You can give a big long spew about opinions and degree's but your still bashing the face of UT football. You need to choose you words better, you saying he quit is ignorant and slander but saying he hasn't played well or as good it would be different.

I do know more than most, but certainly know more than you.

Highly, highly doubtful. Those who do know the most don't exude arrogance and call attention to themselves in posts like this. Berry returned kickoffs when he was asked to(and risked injury more than he had to) but you forgot to mention that, surprisingly. Who do you truthfully cheer for? Bama? Florida? Any team besides UT? Berry has been the most special player UT has had this decade.

Can't handle the truth.

I've been a Vol fan for almost 50 years. I watched UT transition from the Single Wing, to the T-Formation, under Coach Dickey. My knowledge of the Vols goes back to Mallon Faircloth.

I have the feeling that many of you are much newer to the game; hence, your "love" for a player is built 100% on emotion, and when its all based on emotion there is no room to make a critical or analytical comment about a player.

EB was a great player. Monte helped him make some money by walking him up in the defense this year. He proved to pro scouts that not only could he cover (like he did in his first 2 years), he could play in the box as well, like a John Lynch, Ronnie Lott, or Bob Sanders. Thing is, he has better cover skills than those guys, 2 of which are already or will be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Thus, I think very highly of Eric, his ability, and his contributions to Tennessee football. However, that does not mean I cannot point out a flaw when I see one.

Good luck, Eric. I hope to see you, too, in Canton one of these days. And, if you're around some time, tell some of these people that you know where I'm coming from.

Pertaining to the "truth" that we can't handle, this highlighted text is the only part of any post of yours that is truthful. The rest of what you say about Berry quitting is nonsense.

I would expect someone with a name like "EricfreakinBerry" to take the position that EB can do no wrong.

No, I'm not backpedaling. I just read over what I posted, and honestly thought my original words were too strong, so I changed it. Its called being honest, and not hard-headed such that you can't examine your own opinion.

As for the person that said I picked the "wrong place to express my opinion," this is a discussion board. Says it right at the top. Nowhere does it say I have to agree with you.

There are Fulmeristas on here, there are Lane Trainers on here. They fight all the time.

Sorry, I expected some blowback from the "Vols can do no wrong" crowd, but really never expected a bunch of lemmings.

The ultimate is saying I don't support Tennessee, that I must root for Alabama, Florida, etc.

I know others that share my opinion. You all saw Jamaal do it, though much worse than EB. The mass attack is really surprising...guess you can't discuss Tennessee here unless you are blind toward Tennessee. Its like Urban said earlier this year that Jesse Palmer was "not a Gator" because Palmer said something critical about Florida. You all loved that. But here, a different standard applies.

There's a difference in being critical and saying things like "we looked terrible last night" which we actually did so that type of comment holds some water, but to say that Eric Berry quit on the team is nonsense. He is a team leader, not a quitter as you suggest.

You might make better arguments if you first learned how to read. I stated he made mistakes in my post, and you called my comments "do no wrong." So therefore, that obviously shows you do not know how to comprehend words. And yes, you did backpedal. That's what changing your tone from harsh to less harsh would mean.

You just want to make a scene in a thread designed to show respect to a great player. That's all you want to do, so give me a break that you're some sort of *victim* in this argument.

You have the right to an opinion. I'm just saying your opinion is moronic, tasteless and completely wrong.

And John Adams' next good piece will be his first.

Whether you agree or not, if it's an opinion it can't be wrong.....

Voltilyafall has to be trolling. He states an opinion that is diametrically opposed to the that of the mainstream, and then becomes incredibly defensive when people disagree with him.

Furthermore, he blathers about weighing opinions based on merit but has yet to provide anything more than speculation to support his viewpoint.

However, he claims to have forgotten more about football than we all ever knew. So, he is the only person on VolNation whose posts carry any weight...according to him. Haven't seen him posting in the past few minutes, I sure hope he didn't fall off his high horse. That would have been a long way down

Berry was laying some hits last night, I don't see this "play soft not to get injured" mentality. Also, against Ole Miss Berry lined up on the LOS half the game going up against OL. That just screams don't hurt me.
