After watching the proceedings yesterday of the conference as a whole,,,,, this means nothing. But I guess it allows for us to have a little "silver lining" coming out of this game.

It's just sad that you are looking for a silver lining for a game we won.

My "feeling comes from watching parts of most other SEC games.. I fear we were the least wining looking of all the winners I got to see enough of to think about the rest of the season.. I hope we can improve more than others, but QB is still a big problem as is the defensive backfield. God,,, SC receivers were open as much as 5-8 yards most of the time.

When I see D linemen with numbers like 13. It always make me think they have played a skill position in HS and are probably fast, agile and aggressive. Glad he's on out team gonna shine this year.Looks like he's embraced the role and has did the off season work. # 9 Tyler Baron Knox Catholic pleasantly surprised me. Looks like a top notch aspiring SEC talent.
Go Vols.

Does it really matter what happens in other games. When we play those teams, then it will matter. Always looking for the black cloud behind every silver lining is the main thing wrong with this fanbase. WE WON! Get over yourselves.

Did you think we were going to win 8-10 in an all "SEC" schedule.? If so...you are sadly mistaken! We're decent in spots...dominant in none. Teams that have "special seasons" have a "special" QBs...."2" isn't special! Great great kid...but not a top tier SEC QB.

UGA didn’t look good.
Played 3 QBs vs the worst SEC team n the conf.

Go back and look at last season. Same issues. At least this coaching staff is consistent.

Tough room here.

Did we look great? No. Only team I saw yesterday that looked like they were ready for prime time was Alabama (and possibly Florida). Everyone else looked to be shaki g off the rust as well. Last year, our rust got us beat by GA State. This year we opened with a much tougher opponent and won. That is a step up in my book. I mean, heck, at least we are not Oklahoma or LSU this morning. Both got beat by unranked teams.

JG did look better in his decision making. He had several bad throws but also had several strong throws as well. Quicker decision maki g as well and was not picking himself off the ground every play.

Little disappointed that we seemed to have some issues running the ball, but I’ll give that another week as well to sort out.

Concerning to me is the D gave up too many big plays and seemed SC receivers were running free way too much.

Oh...and Cimiglia missing that FG was shocking to me.

Georgia has issues, Auburn was beaten by Kentucky for 3 qtrs, and Texas A&M barely escaped Vandy and would have lost to SCAR had they played. We got 20 practices with limited personnel and we didn’t have our starting secondary and D Line. I think we will be fine, but QB is a concern.

My biggest worry going into this year, at least on defense, was going to be an inability to get a pass rush with just 4 rushers. If DJ can break out that would be so helpful

I thought Johnson played really well, he also hurried the pass that turned into the To'oTo'o pick 6. Kivon Bennett and Baron also had good games. D Line was mostly solid, but lost contain a few times in the second half. We are tied for third in the SEC in sacks after one game. Two of the teams ahead of us (LSU and Miss State) threw three ball a combined 106 times, makes sense they got some sacks.

Defensively we have sum things to clean up but I thought personally we looked like one of the better teams that I saw yesterday(defense that is).. Offensively JG still gonna miss a few passes here and there, playing the top teams those could be a concern and he’ll get a few picked. What to do their I’m not the coach so let’s just support our guy and hope for the best.We when needed plays guys stepped up showed passion fire and that’s sumthin we didn’t see last year. For lack of practices and having guys unavailable we played way better than I expected.

Chandler completely eclipsed Eric Gray last night. It looked like they were running behind different olines.

I agree. Thought maybe was just me, but Chandler showed more of a burst than Gray. I think Gray is probably a better open field runner with his "shake and bake" ability, but it seems he wants to start his "shake and bake" type style before he hits the open field.
