I think I'll pass. I haven't been real interested in it. Plus, Fable 2 and Fallout 3 come out soon.

i usually talk myself out of playing games like this. just thought it looked pretty intense. the last horror based game i played was bioshock, but it wasn't all that scary either.

It was until I got used to it. Now it's one of my favorite games of all time. The storyline is amazing.

I am going to have to give bioshock another look. I was originally turned off by its unapologetic BS scientific lunacy. At least the fallout series calls it "Science!" instead of pretending like everyone is too dumb to know the difference.

what's the word on it? graphics look good but at the same time it looks like a pretty stupid idea for a game

I guess I am a bit of a nerd. The whole "unlock lightning and fire powers by rewriting your DNA in the late 1940's, when DNA was not even discovered until the mid 1950's" just doesn't make any sense historically, let alone physiologically or scientifically. Just call it magic, because that is what it is.

Oh, I am a nerd, too. However, the difference between you and I are that I apparently LOVE fiction. And it was set in modern times... the city under the sea was built in the 50's (I think, been awhile), splicing didn't occur until the city began rotting away.

maaaybeeee rapture(the underwater city in bioshock) secretly discovered dna before anyone else did.:whistling:

it's a game, i find a way to look over such things, especially if the game is good enough.

It's been a long time, I couldn't even remember the city's name. LOL. But if that's the case, then DNA had already been discovered to be a double helix model, IIRC.

Rapture is set in the 60's, when the plane crashes in the sea it's modern day.

i think the plane crash was in the 60's too. rapture was built in the 40's. you can tell by the music played there and the general atmosphere.

i feel like such a nerd now.

EDIT: You're correct. After watching the opening again on Youtube, it is 1960.

my kid wants Dead Space. Since my PS3 is dead, I think I'll trade my games in and get it for him.

Ya, it is definitely set then. But my point is that it isn't good science fiction, but rather akin to fantasy. Science fiction would have had a better time setting or explanation for the "powers." It doesn't make any sense for it to be "genetic."

my kid ended up getting Rock Band 2. One of the clerks said he beat Dead Space in 9 hours and managed to get most of the achievements without really trying all that hard.

I'm playing Bioshock on the PC now, and I'm really enjoying it.

You should give it another look. It's not like the game is claiming to be a documentary!

It's Science Fiction!!
