DD presser 10 / 22

I agree. Worley mentioned the 3 pts as a positive for him in his presser.

Also a good chance to give our kicker some practice.

People will find anything to complain about...

Dooley didn't even realize the Vol fans that stayed were booing because he decided to kick a FG down by 34 pts at the end of the game.

Clueless.

Says who?

I thought it to be a 4-5 year reclamation project.

Toss in losing Da'Dumba$$ and Clear, JH's drops/alligator arms, a running back that wouldn't start for anybody we have lost to and a hellacious schedule and the results aren't that disappointing. Our D sucks, but new scheme that we haven't really recruited to before this year (and weren't McCullers and Sentimore great gets?) and loss of Randolph and overall lack of speed in DB's hasn't helped.

The occasional deer in the headlights look is a little disturbing, but unless the team folds and we don't win the last 4, I think he deserves another year.

Max, I respect your opinion, but disagree.

This team simply doesn't play for him.

1st half of MSU game was unbelievable. Bama game wasn't much better.

He does not make our guys believe they will win - this is the single most important part of his job.

Dooley needs to go.

I think we put too much emphasis on the skill players we lose. Under the right staff next year doesn't have to be a step backward. I feel good about the job DD has done with the roster and trust the losses on the roster will be filled by good players that have had time to learn on campus without having to be throw into the fire so early. Sadly we will be much better if we have a change at qb next year IMO. That might be more important than a change of the coaches.

Anybody remember that guy's name that started the year after the Manning kid? Those were much bigger shoes to fill...

If Dooley is not fired by the season's end... and not offered a contract extension... recruiting is probably going to suffer for 2014. Better to fire Dooley, get quality Interim, then find Dooley's replacement.

Interim coach would be FANTASTIC for 2013 recruiting! That's just what we need!

All irrelevant, he is gone. Get used to it.

I will go as far as to say if DD is the coach in 2013 I will never post on VN again. Everyone close to the situation knows, and even his biggest allies are finally saying what has been known since last Monday.

come on.. you'll just get a new name and keep posting like everybopdy else who has said that. I say that cause everybody wants Dooley gone and he deserves to be since he hasnt won **** but dont be surprised when he is here next year. He isnt dead man walking like everybody thinks... not yet anyway. He loses to Vandy or UK then yeah its probably done.

P.S. all that nonsense going around with him talking about his buyout is B.S.

I agree 1st half vs State was bad after an off week.

I felt we hung in there with Bama until half way through 3rd...the deep ball on 3rd and short was bad...Beast on 3rd and 4th would have been better. If Bray hits Pig (ok, big if), we are within 6 and who knows...

If they don't play for him, we won't win out in November and it will be done.

Thanks for the respect...back at you.

GBO!

Pennington...prominent?

please

Even if Dooley knows who JP is I enjoyed his answer.

It's not like JP is super famous or anything, but he does host the only year-round Sunday morning TV show dedicated to UT athletics. (I think Hubbs' show is only on during FB season.) I find it difficult to believe that Dooley has been in Knoxville for almost 3 years and has never heard of John Pennington.

Just my thoughts, but 2013 we win sec and play or BCS,,,, and the nega turn into wannabe again!

What logic has led you you to this conclusion?

Next years schedule is once again murder. We may be without any playmakers on either side of the ball and a coach that is a boy trying to be a man.

I am all for optimism but is has to have some logic behind it.

I hate it when people bring up recruiting would be killed because of a coaching change. Thats small minded imo because what if you hired a big time coach...I think the loses of of 2 and 3 stars replaced by some blue chip prospects would offset the coaching change.

I do believe the buyout part really happened. He knows he is in over his head and was gonna get fired with getting a buyout eventually. No way 7-5 saves his job, sounds like he has already been made aware he will not be back. Money isnt an issue if donors are offering to pay the buyout money. Gotta figure Graham, Hinshaw and Pittman could be retained. Sal could be retained as LB coach but definitely not DC. Hart knows this will be his chance to solidify his mark as an AD and will make a good hire. Gruden, Cower, Stoops, Patterson, Peterson, Strong would be really good hires. Obviously Gruden, Cower and Stoops would be Great, HR hires. Doubt Cower is an option but Gruden and Stoops are options. Im just a fan so here would be my top 10 wants and realistic possibilities.

1.Gruden
2.Stoops
3a.Peterson
3b.Patterson
3c.Strong
6.Tressel
7.Del Rio
8. C. Kelly
9. Sumlin (E Who we could have had when we hired Dooley, but doubt he leaves A'M this soon.
10. Smart

Like I said I dont claim to be a coaching expert but would satisfied with any of these hires with the first 2 being unbelievable siked and best shots at winning quickly.

And now for some reality...

1. Gruden - He's not coming here to make less money and work harder.
2. Stoops - This is laughable, he's not leaving Oklahoma unless they fire him.
3a. Peterson - Maybe, but he turned down UCLA's offer of $4M so what are we going to have to pay to get him?
3b. Patterson - He's not leaving TCU after what he's built them into; the biggest reason he would've left was for the Auto-Qual but that's a moot point now that he's in the Big12.
3c. Strong - Maybe...
6. Tressel - Doubt it, he got hit with a show clause for the Ohio State mess.
7. Del Rio - Maybe, but why? He's a career losing coach.
8. C. Kelly - Keep dreaming, he's not leaving the Ducks.
9. Sumlin - Not leaving A&M after 1 year.
10. Smart - Maybe...

smart is the most likely candidate out of this list. Petrino will be hired somewhere before next season...and we're not letting Dooley go until it works for ut financially...aka next season...

Look, I know this is going to make me look like a hypocrite, and I guess I might be. But watching that, I just can't help but like the guy. I've ripped him, but damn he seems like a genuine guy. I swear, the last few minutes are hard to watch. He was laughing, but I swear you could tell he was also closed to losing it. I'm not saying we should keep him, but **** I wish it could be better
