DD presser 10 / 22

Also around the 23:00 minute when Hyams is asking some question about him stepping down, Hyams quotes an article by John Pennington, and Dooley claims to have never even heard of Pennington. Is there any chance that in 3 years Dooley hasn't met and been asked questions by Pennington, a fairly prominent member of the Knoxville media? I'm pretty sure Dooley may be losing his mind.

Couldn't you just post in the Dooley press conference thread "look, he's so nervous, he's chewing on his glasses!"

How am I reaching? He obviously got nervous.

People with glasses chew on them all the time. It's just a mannerism. I would hardly classify that as a reason he is over his head. There is about 1000 other reasons you could have chose.

Not while talking. It was strange. People chew on their glasses when thinking or listening.

Dude, seriously? He didn't act nervous at all. You are looking for something. He actually came across better than I was expecting.

Ridiculous. Dooley has many nervous mannerisms during press conferences and is often fidgeting with his hands and/or glasses.

If the board is going to be like this going forward, I may have to log off until next fall.

9:45 mark he is asked about the FG at the end of the game.

He called it "insignificant". I call it symbolic.

Dooley's decisions represent this team and university.

It is absolutely ridiculous for someone in a head coaching job to not understand how pervasive a losing mentality can be.

That is what we have here - a losing mentality.

FG attempts at the end of an ugly loss is exactly the wrong message to send to your team.

Play to win - not to save face. Sickening.

The fanbase is goin be the downfall at Tennessee. The reason being why would recruits want to come here and put up with the bs the fans say. Really u guys should stfu and support the program or were never goin be a contender in the sec. So keep bashing the program players coaches etc... See where we are at in 3 to 4 years.

Tell that to florida and ron zook

I do believe the buyout part really happened. He knows he is in over his head and was gonna get fired with getting a buyout eventually. No way 7-5 saves his job, sounds like he has already been made aware he will not be back. Money isnt an issue if donors are offering to pay the buyout money. Gotta figure Graham, Hinshaw and Pittman could be retained. Sal could be retained as LB coach but definitely not DC. Hart knows this will be his chance to solidify his mark as an AD and will make a good hire. Gruden, Cower, Stoops, Patterson, Peterson, Strong would be really good hires. Obviously Gruden, Cower and Stoops would be Great, HR hires. Doubt Cower is an option but Gruden and Stoops are options. Im just a fan so here would be my top 10 wants and realistic possibilities.

1.Gruden
2.Stoops
3a.Peterson
3b.Patterson
3c.Strong
6.Tressel
7.Del Rio
8. C. Kelly
9. Sumlin (E Who we could have had when we hired Dooley, but doubt he leaves A'M this soon.
10. Smart

Like I said I dont claim to be a coaching expert but would satisfied with any of these hires with the first 2 being unbelievable siked and best shots at winning quickly.

why would Stoops come to TN..? Have u seen what kind of respect he commands in OK..? U beat Texas 50+ and you are worshipped there ..No way patterson or Peterson come here too..Strong is a weak candidate..Tresell has show case against him..del rio a poor choice..Chip kelly ..?? u kididng me..he is winning big at Oregon..Smart...unproven..leaves gruden..not interested..

^^^^ Agreed with you on all points, except for Del Rio. I think he could be a great college coach, but needs time as a coordinator first.

The fact that he refers to it as "insignificant" is pretty telling. While true that the game was decided by that point, you still want to put points on the board especially with your second string and backups in the game. Give the team something positive to leave with and who knows, you might end up getting your first string to actually start playing to their talent level if they know the second stringers have a little spring in their step and can execute.

I agree. Worley mentioned the 3 pts as a positive for him in his presser.

Also a good chance to give our kicker some practice.

People will find anything to complain about...

This was supposed to be the "turn around" year. If CDD is back in 2013, is it just widely assumed he is a lame duck?

Says who?

I thought it to be a 4-5 year reclamation project.

Toss in losing Da'Dumba$$ and Clear, JH's drops/alligator arms, a running back that wouldn't start for anybody we have lost to and a hellacious schedule and the results aren't that disappointing. Our D sucks, but new scheme that we haven't really recruited to before this year (and weren't McCullers and Sentimore great gets?) and loss of Randolph and overall lack of speed in DB's hasn't helped.

The occasional deer in the headlights look is a little disturbing, but unless the team folds and we don't win the last 4, I think he deserves another year.
