I do believe the buyout part really happened. He knows he is in over his head and was gonna get fired with getting a buyout eventually. No way 7-5 saves his job, sounds like he has already been made aware he will not be back. Money isnt an issue if donors are offering to pay the buyout money. Gotta figure Graham, Hinshaw and Pittman could be retained. Sal could be retained as LB coach but definitely not DC. Hart knows this will be his chance to solidify his mark as an AD and will make a good hire. Gruden, Cower, Stoops, Patterson, Peterson, Strong would be really good hires. Obviously Gruden, Cower and Stoops would be Great, HR hires. Doubt Cower is an option but Gruden and Stoops are options. Im just a fan so here would be my top 10 wants and realistic possibilities.

1.Gruden
2.Stoops
3a.Peterson
3b.Patterson
3c.Strong
6.Tressel
7.Del Rio
8. C. Kelly
9. Sumlin (E Who we could have had when we hired Dooley, but doubt he leaves A'M this soon.
10. Smart

Like I said I dont claim to be a coaching expert but would satisfied with any of these hires with the first 2 being unbelievable siked and best shots at winning quickly.

MH also had the opportunity to hire Brian Kelly instead of DD, look what he is doing at ND. :(

3 year deal at $800k per year totaling $2.4 million plus change. Don't know if that is guaranteed?

Read contract. If Sal is fired will get paid out. But contract says Sal must use reasonable efforts to find another job. Any pay received from another job will offset dollar for dollar what UT owes him. Same for all other assistants except Chaney. Has guaranteed payout without employment requirement. Also believe Chaney's is $1,000,000 max if I recall correctly.

To most people's disappointment, it's just his weekly presser, no hint of resigning.

I don't believe the rumors of DD asking for a buyout after the KY game.

He want's to succeed here. He knows he probably won't ever get another chance to be a HC @ a big time school if he fails here.

If he finishes 7-5 I think Hart keeps him through 2013, so they don't have to buy out all the assistants, as well as DD. If he finishes 6-6 I think it's 50 / 50 he is back for 2013.

I will be shocked if DD is here after 2013. If he is both he and Hart will need body guards IMO.

If Dooley is not fired by the season's end... and not offered a contract extension... recruiting is probably going to suffer for 2014. Better to fire Dooley, get quality Interim, then find Dooley's replacement.

The fanbase is goin be the downfall at Tennessee. The reason being why would recruits want to come here and put up with the bs the fans say. Really u guys should stfu and support the program or were never goin be a contender in the sec. So keep bashing the program players coaches etc... See where we are at in 3 to 4 years.

Winning cures all ailments of the fanbase...see Alabama Pre-Saban.

Are you saying Chaney is making 1,000,000 now? If he is, that is insane. :banghead2:

With, or without Dools, 2013 is a rebuilding year. Enjoy our fruits this year.

I think we put too much emphasis on the skill players we lose. Under the right staff next year doesn't have to be a step backward. I feel good about the job DD has done with the roster and trust the losses on the roster will be filled by good players that have had time to learn on campus without having to be throw into the fire so early. Sadly we will be much better if we have a change at qb next year IMO. That might be more important than a change of the coaches.

I think the chances of DD getting a contract extension at the end of 2012 are two fold / slim and none. FTR, I think it's in UT's best interest to be working behind the scenes now (which i think is occurring) to find a proven winner, in case things continue going south. That being said, if DD is able to salvage at least a 7-5 record, much to the disapproval of many, I think Hart retains him for another year. JMO
