I’d say he is along with others. It’s relatively quiet with the staff right now. I would think more traction after NSD. Steele is still a part of the staff as of now as is Osovet. Interested to see if they remain in some capacity.
I was really excited about Shoop! Penn state had top 10 defense his defences prior to Tenn were impressive! Not the same here, I'd be hard pressed to believe it was a drop in quality athletes here vs other stops!
Chavis historically does not recruit so outside of Xs and Os, what is the draw? I am as sentimental as the next guy, but Chavis is 1990s not 2020s. We need 2020s coordinators
We all saw it for ourselves here... the whole 3rd and Chavis thing was for real.... that kept happening because he didn't change or adapt, opposing teams knew what he was gonna do in those situations every time.
His last stops proved it too, stud players, strong defenses but always seemed to give up a big play at the worst, back breaking times.
Whether this guy has a "name" or not... the most important thing is that he knows how to run a D opposite an O that scores points but doesn't hold the ball. I think Heupel likes "big play" D's- sacks, TO's, TFL's, etc and is willing to take the risk of giving up yards and big plays to the opposing O.
Sort of the Steve Spurrier philosophy... just get me the ball back.
It's either A. keep Steele, or B. let Steele go and they'll have to pay him the 900k he's owed, and then have to hire another DC and payout another 750k++.. which makes zero sense in a transitional year
I think he has already got someone lined up and that he is just waiting until NSD is over and will announce them then. It really serves no real purpose at this point because we aren't going to flip anybody this late in the game. I think they have some transfers lined up after the fact.
