Wonder if he is more of a DC in title only...meaning Todd Bowles is actually making the defensive calls, like some HC's (who were former DC's) do? If so, then it might not be out of the realm of possibility.Kacy Rodgers is probably unrealistic but I can dream. He has done really well in NFL. Butch, make him say no.
That makes more sense than LeBeau,Lovie, and some of the other names I've seen... Hell, even Hoke makes no sense
Tennessee fans have an abysmal history of evaluating defensive coordinators. Jancek was a good coordinator, Wilcox was a better coordinator, and Chavis was an excellent coordinator. Even in Fulmer's last year, Chavis had a top 10 defense. That defense, btw, was on the field most of the time because the offense was a trainwreck.
As for replacements for Jancek--
1. Chavis
2. Shoop
3. Wilcox
4. A proven coordinator under the radar who has a top 25 defense in 2015
His name is being mentioned. Swain just raised questions about Marion only being the co-DC. Said you don't know how much responsibility he has with the defense in that situation, is he the one making the calls? Has he been the one designing the defense and schemes? Just some questions.
Heh, for the non-baseball fans, Paul Depodesta is the Harvard geek statistician behind the Oakland A's success as told in the book and movie, Moneyball (played by Jonah Hill in the movie).

When Butch says, "It's a process" and talks about analytics, he's clearly talking about applying Oakland-style statistical analysis ideas to football.
Of course, being successful at that is a whole nother challenge...it's not like there aren't tons of other coaches and programs trying some variant of it out these days. It's not a rarity like it was back in the Moneyball days.
I know you were being light-hearted about it, PJ, just fun to see all these links lighting up. :good!:
Sounds like a good PR move... I might have had a mini stroke, that's why I gave up 70... And if true, it's even more egregious he tried to coach after having one...
If I was a Clemson fan, his defense would have given me a stroke
My roommate at Clemson is on staff today and was on staff then. I heard that the day after the game from him. Said there were defensive calls being made that weren't in their playbook. The staff on the field had no idea where the calls were coming from.
