agree with all of this. and the only way to make it all count is to hire the right guy...can't afford a Sunseri or Clawsonesque hire here.

i'm, dare i say, excited, about the prospects of who it could be!!

at $515,000 why fire Jancek, who has not been our problem....something is fishy and the only thing that makes sense is Jancek has a better job elsewhere

One of Fulmer's shortcomings was being too nice to get rid of no producers. I was afraid Butch would be the same, but it seems like he knows the business end of it.

that's certainly a possibility. but, in all the off season jobs that were open, there hasn't been a rumbling at all (at least that i'm aware of) about Jancek being in line for any job, anywhere? unless i just plain missed it....

i hear all these names...Shoop, Chizik, Chavis, Wilcox.

Remember this time last year when the OC left for Tampa. Everyone had their short list of great OC candidates that would be a great fit and then govols247 put out their list and it had some great candidates on it

Well whut happin waz................Debored gets hired (nothing against him) but.....he was "low man on the totem pole" in most people's eyes. So I would think he is going to hire a guy who no one thinks of and might be like WTF????

Which players? Anything to back up your statement? Interesting but without some backup just hard to believe they'd say it publicly

If you want to win big time, you don't hesitate to fire a guy just because his salary is low. Jancek was not the ONLY problem, but he has been a problem at times. May be hard to remember because of our last 6 games against bad teams, but this team blew some big time leads to some big time teams. He was not the only one at fault, but I'm not sure where the "fishy" angle comes from.

I think a few people have questioned whether losing recruits impacted this decision.

Just speculating from 1000 miles away... but IMO if it is player related then it is the pattern of guys considering walking away from him. Hendrix did. Wasn't it Jaylen Miller who earned PT as a Fr then left? Now there are rumors about Phillips not being happy.

Most everything pointed toward Hendrix decision being directly related to a coach or coaches and how he felt he was treated.

Could this be Jones "fixing" that problem?

i don't, and only for this reason...it appears CBJ made the decision to change DC's. he did NOT make the decision to change OC's last year. two different circumstances, and one, like last year, you're in react mode. this time, it has the feel that he's being proactive, and in control of what happens next.

if that's not the case, and there is no plan b right now, then i'd seriously question his decision making processes.

I like Marion Hobby . I don't see Shoop as an upgrade at all . This is a big hire at a very important time period as everyone has pointed out. Hire the right guy and win the east next year. Hire the wrong guy and we will be talking about a chance to go to a bowl again. You win in the SEC with defense.

Stop it. Do you know who Bob Shoop is? He's being mentioned and he's a much better, much more accomplished DC than Jancek and would be a considerable upgrade. And stop with the Chavis mess...he's making 1.6mm and ain't coming to Tennessee.

Sources close to the situation said Muschamp wants to come over...quoted as saying he would love the promotion from his current situation. lol

I hope you are right about this one. Yes last one was out of his control and this one is in his control. I am hanging with my kung-fu grip that you are right on this one. IF SO.....I wonder WHY he let him go. The defense was good/ not great (Oklahoma/Florida collapses) Alabama wa sjust being Alabama they were not going to lose on their home field (again). So not sure what went wrong????
