DC Candidates?

Don't aspire to be the best on the team. Aspire to be the best for the team. - Vol Nation the best is coming 🍊🏈 https://t.co/ezjuOfcuhf

Per Steve Stripling in Twitter. These riddles are driving me crazy.

Out of the tree of life I just picked me a plum
You came along and everything's startin' to hum
Still, it's a real good bet, the best is yet to come

I knew someone had to go there I have refrained from posting a lot because I would have thought people were past that now. This is a lot different situation and I am just saying what I believe as a fan. Not sure how long one has to pay for getting sucked into that debacle along with a lot of other former and current (at the time) players, former and current staff members etc...

What I mean is I am not going to read a VQ article that lists Hoke as #2 and draw the conclusion that its all of a sudden Hoke because we never get the guy we want like many posted overnight lol.

Please keep sharing. No one is ever 100% right, all the time! Hindsight is 20/20. If people like you didn't share with people like me (i don't know crap), we would never know anything on here.

Thanks for your info bcarter. There are others in the recruiting forum who are echoing what you are saying so hopefully this works out and Shoop is hired. Also even though Hubbs mentioned Hoke as number 2 and sent panic to volnation, he also said in so many words Shoop is far and away number 1. I can't imagine that Hart and Butch would let Jancek go at a critical time without having a sure thing almost in place. Hopeful but still nervous until it is announced lol!

You always have to have a fallback option and I think that's hoke, too much legit smoke about shoop for it to not be him AT THE MOMENT, but just like anything else in life things can change unexpectedly, so many variables in any hire like this, many of which are out of Tennessee's control. I think hoke would accept on the spot if offered given his relationship with butch and company so it's good to have a sure thing as a backup. Is he the same quality as shoop? I'd think not but he's proven to be a damn good recruiter and we could do a lot worse

Everything you typed is right on, I agree with all of it. Unfortunately, most everybody who are actual insiders on here (only a handful) or even the occasional guy who has legit information due to relationship with an involved party, routinely gets ripped, jeered, ridiculed and called every name in the book by a bunch of jack wagons on here if they choose to share any legit information. I don't blame em for being tight lipped.

Truth.

Agreed and everyone that is close to a lot of those involved in the program would not get information if every time things were shared with them it ended up on forums or social media. Its easier to be vague and say "I believe" and "I think" rather than 'I know for a fact" because all these things are fluid much like recruiting. A done deal can go awry with one sentence, one clause in a contract or an insane offer from elsewhere etc...

I enjoy discussing the Vols and it is hard at times because as a fan you want to share things but if you are too specific it will damage relationships and friendships that mean more than helping fellow Vols know what is going on.

I wasn't ripping him in any way and he knows that

Agree on Hoke being a fall back option and things can certainly change unexpectedly. Often it is for the best (re: Charlie Strong turning us down).

I just think Shoop is a vast upgrade where Hoke would be a lateral move on the field, maybe a slight upgrade in recruiting.

Is this where we freak out because there's a flight from State College, PA to Knoxville right now?

Okay, take this as a grain of salt and FWIW I don't think anything is set in stone but....

My wife works at Pilot's Corperate Office and she sent me a very interesting text a few moments ago.

When they looked at who leaked this, your misspelling of 'corporate' will be your downfall.

(I swore I wouldn't post this online) [Oh well]

"Hey honey, I saw something interesting on Mr. Haslams docut earlier and I thought maybe you could provide me with some insight about what's going on. He had a conference call scheduled at 10:00am with AD Hart and "Happy Valley" I'm not sure who that could be but I thought you'd be interested to know. There's been a lot of chatter here today about a booster meeting tonight as well....."

My wife isn't the most knowledgeable football fan but she is wise to when something is brewing at Pilot. I am by no means confirming this as official news but thought my fellow VOLS would be interested to hear what I was told. I hope this is an indication of Shoop being our guy. Take it for what's it's worth, GBO!

Hope you don't get her fired, but thanks for sharing.

So now we're reaching some clarity. The whole DC shift is boiling down to two key stories, one backward-looking and the other focused on the future:

(1) What is the whole story on Jancek's dismissal? To include what happens to Zac, his son.

(2) Who's the new guy, check his stats, what entourage is he bringing with him, and what existing assistant coaches might be lost to make room?

For 1, so far we have some pretty scandalous guesses, but nothing from anyone authoritative. For 2, we're still all over the map though Shoop is getting more air time than anyone else.

Any other key storylines than those two? Anything I missed?

May mean nothing though... Maybe it's just a sales pitch... I'm not sure what to believe honestly. I just want a quality hire going into next season.
