Secondary def looks like typical Tennessee secondary as of late. I think we are suffering from our injuries. Also the Dline is not blasting off like last year

Helen Keller can see that we are swiss cheese in the secondary. We can't defend the pass........at all. That's why we lost to GA.

They had 7 points against our starters. UAB didn't sub in and kept their 1st string in the entire game. On top of that, Merk couldn't get anything going on offense. We are playing walk ons.

Great view of the Florida DBacks play. Heads turned looking at the QB (all of them)! What happened? Beautiful interception. I have only seen a few DBacks in orange with their head on a swivel like that over many years. All of ours needs to see that play.

Side note: Huge mistake letting Jakobe Thomas leave. He’s playing possessed.

Yes our 3rd string DBs aren’t that good lol the starters who are actually second string played a good game

Cornerbacks that are in phase with the receivers can play the ball in the air. If he's not, then he's running full speed to catch up to the receiver. That cb running full speed will need to be an all world player if he's going to make a play on a well thrown ball once he's been beaten off the line.

I've given up on expecting our defense to stop the out route like Georgia scored on us late. If you have a talented QB who can lay the ball at the right place, and a medium tall receiver who has hands, it's almost impossible to defend. It's either a completed pass or a PI . We did it with Hooker and Co, and Joey did it to Georgia. The solution ? yes, we're going to have to score 50 + on opponents. And hope we get some turn overs

Why?

Well, let’s see. Did any of their players they signed out of high school have a legit offer from Tennessee when they were coming out of high school? Did any of their transfers have a legit offer from Tennessee when they were in the portal? No? Then our guys should be better than theirs.

UAB was 3-9 last year, and Dilfer is seen as one of the most incompetent coaches in FBS.
