I'm a student over at UT and honestly I've been kind of shocked from what I've been hearing on campus.

I kind of assumed that everyone knew Philip Fulmer has a chance of being let go. I mean the writing was on the wall......err rock. Today, however, I'm hearing from players felt like they've been "blindsided' with this.

Many of them claim that fans and the media are really the ones who caused this and many of them seemed disgusted about Hamilton's actions.

I guess these hard feelings are to be expected. These young men put in years of hard work with this man and have gone through a lot with him.

All in all though, I'm still kind of shocked the players are taking it this hard.

I'm not shocked at all that they are taking it this hard, but I am shocked that they didn't see this coming. There is always a chance of this happening when a major program hasn't been winning. My real question is why they feel like it's the media and fans fault? Did they ever think that it was because they weren't performing on the field?

They are a team of excuses and blaming others for their personal faults on the field.

they're idiots if they were blindsided.

They just don't want to be part of the reason Fulmer got hammered. Get over it Briscoe, you were a huge part of the problem.

It just proves that we need a new coach in there that will change the attitude of this team.

Sure, it's all the fans and medias fault.
It had absolutely nothing to do with their performance on the field.:nono:

Was there this much player backlash from Michigan last season? I don't think so.

these are all big time athletes and it is obvious that for the the last few years our coaching staff has not been doing a good job of developing or motivating these guys but like i said before these are big time athletes and they should have done a better job of some self motivation and got on the field and played like they had a purpose. my coaches always said we would rather see you make a mistake going 110% then half arseing so you can try to get it right. the problem here was they were making mistakes and slacking.

Attitude reflects LEADERSHIP.

A great quote from "Remember the Titans"

So true in our case!!!!

If they were blindsided, then they chose to stick their heads in the sand. It is not only that we were losing, but that we were not even putting a competitive product on the field...........not even close. Unless your definition of "competitive" is playing evenly against Northern Illinois, then Hamilton did UT a favor.

Considering that Eric Berry is one of those who is saying that he was blindsided, I tend to think they were led to believe that Fulmer wouldn't be let go by the AD.

Yep, they need to realize that Fulmer doesnt go out on the field and play the game....Fulmer doesnt FUMBLE (Foster) away ball games....Fulmer doesnt throw passes 40 yrds out of bounds or into the dirt (Crompton), miss 25 yrd game winning FG's, (lincoln), fail to run block and protect your QB (Entire offensive line)....maybe they just arent as good as they think...or...maybe they have been poorly coached as of late....either way...the team needs to MAN THE F** up which is something they have NOT done for some time...especially this year...and as for Briscoe....STOP RUNNING Backwards....:ermm:

People need to lay off foster, just a little bit, as once again Hardesty shows why he's the most unreliable back in the country. The guy can't go 3 series without an injury.

He's (Foster) been the only offensive player that's actually shown a pulse the last two games. Even if it wasn't productive, I have seen some spark and he's running with much more authority than he was earlier in the year.

Well, the point of my post above was that this team needs to step back and look at THEMSELVES and the way they have been playing....Fulmer doesnt go out on the field and play...however its his job to have them prepared...either he hasnt done his job...or the players arent doing theirs....to me it looks like a lot of both...either way...the players need to man up for once..and not pull a Briscoe and laugh on the sidelines when you run backwards from a first down.....

I'm in favor of a coaching change, so that's besides the point.

I just think people need to lay off Foster a little bit. He's actually been playing better is all I'm saying, while Hardesty is back on the injured list (as usual).

And I was responding to the Foster's mom post, anyways. Not yours.

I think everyone should cut the players some slack.I'm sure most of them feel that they played a part in getting the coach they loved fired.

The comments made yesterday were from the pain of that and I would be more upset if they were not angry.

These kids haven't been sitting around reading message boards and newspaper articles for two months, or listening to sports talk radio for hours a day. They've been going to class, going to practice, and playing football. And regardless of how you think they handled the news....they just aren't in the same situation as anybody else.

i was kinda suprised how berry acted. Ever since his "ive been playing johnny majors football since i was a kid" comment, i wondered how loyal he was to fulmer. Comparing this to feeling like someone died gives me my answer i guess.

Death or Divorce. Brainwashing and water boarding go along way in building teams. Not sure what was said in the Locker Room before this but I am sure that most of the players did not see it coming.

Could there be more that we do not know about going on here? The player's body language on the sidelines was one of complacency and almost "fat Catish". They seemed satisfied with the product that they were showing on the field. (A few exceptions) I do believe that this team was beginning to divide within itself last year and we were beginning to see it clearer this year. The players have a choices: Stay or Leave. They should/do not have the choice of dabbling which is what some not all were doing.
