I think he's just pointing out that three of the quarterbacks that we've faced this year have won the award. Nothing to be negative about.

Does Will Grier get the Barry Bonds treatment?

Funniest thing ive ever seen from fans was that sign that Phillies fans held stretching across behind Bobds. "RUTH DID IT ON HOT DOGS & BEER. AARRON DID IT WITH CLASS. BONDS DID IT STICKING A NEEDLE IN HIS @!/"

Lol

What's your point? That it's ok to be 3-3 because we played against some good QBs?

Where do you get that? Nobody want's to be 3-3 except those enjoy the misery or want this staff gone. You one of those?

I was pointing out that of the 6 times it's been awarded this year, we've played three of them which I think is pretty unusual.

Lighten up Francis...

HAHA, WOW! Get up on the wrong side of the bed or something? Let's not look for the worst in every comment or anything, lol.

Great post JohnD13, that really says a lot!

Could be interpreted as our defense makes opposing QB's award winners?

Is my biggest surprise for this season. 8 returning starters, add is some super high ranked young talent, and we've gotten worse on defense.

Actually I think they all got them the week AFTER they played us....maybe we built up their confidence?

Hmmm.... I, too, originally thought OP's post was a clear indication our defense sucked this season. However, you seem to be on to something. It does, in fact, look like they won the award for their performances in the week AFTER they played us.

Or are we missing something?

Matt Johnson had a career day beating Maryland 48-27 the week after facing us. Johnson set new personal bests with six TDs and 491 passing yards in that game, against a B10 team. That's how he won the award. He's just a very good QB.

Baker Mayfield set an Oklahoma school record with 572 total yards (4 passing TDs, 2 running TDs) when OK played Tulsa the week after us. Again, just a very good QB.

Will Grier got the recognition for beating (then #3) Ole Miss, with 4 TD passes in the first half alone (24 of 29 for 271 on the day). Another very good (this one with artificial enhancement, turns out) QB.

They all played great games the week after playing us. That they also played very good games against us may be seen as a confidence-booster, or it may just be a sign of consistency in good players.

Thanks for highlighting this, JohnD, it is an interesting footnote on the 2015 season so far.

Imagine what Dobbs would win if he could consistently throw the ball downfield week after week for 300+ yards?

He gets his chance against Alabama next.

That's what the preseason hype was all about. If he did that he'd be a Heisman dark horse.
