David Sanders......AGAIN

I wasn’t counting on him going in cold this week against UGA…come on now! It would have been a downgrade from Kelly. We need him working in reps at LT. That’s our future. Team building is still a thing while we’re doing fantasy.

This has gone from our staff being surprised he wasn't able to play in the opener, to him STILL sitting out 3 weeks later. WTH is going on??? Is our 5* stud that soft? Is it more serious then we were led to believe? I just see our team having a ton of injuries and it seems to happen ALL the time. It's frustrating.
IMHO I wouldn't call a 5 star OT recruit "soft" because he's held out of a few games with injury..But I'm sure your Medical Degree allows you to level that accusation, correct ??.....

Carry on.....

the initial diagnosis was a stinger and the feeling was it should resolve in a week or so. There are cases where it takes longer since the nerve has some damage. The nerve has to heal and then the muscles have to rehab back to full strength. In Sanders case, that is the issue, the nerve healing is taking much longer than anticipated.

It would be a high risk of further injury if he tried to play PLUS, he would likely be ineffective due to the weakness....
Really hope he cam stay healthy, and progress. No sense in trying to push it.

Also, hope he wont blame TN and sticks around. Really excited to see him play.

Thanks Larry, hope you're well Sir.

It’s a nerve injury from a stinger. With that type of injury you have to let the nerve fully heal to get strength back. It’s incredibly risky to come back too soon from a nerve injury.

Injuries happen. Now, if you want to go up there, and lay hands on him? Go for it. Maybe they will let you in. Then again, they may laugh you off the facility.

Those overly obsessed with star ratings are often the first to overreact.

The injuries on the defensive side plus Boo Carter's issues this early in the season have the feel of a snakebit year.
Let's see how things go. We are in a much better place than 5 years ago and the recruiting appears to be picking up, especially on the line of scrimmage.
I'm at least happy we are a solid program again.

I just had shoulder surgery. I'm also a retired vet with multiple tours of duty so I'm not wuss. Shoulder injuries suck. I have never felt this much pain. I would love to get back to work but I have had to admit to myself that I can't until I heal. Sometimes it takes more than just a "want to".

We will see how they hold up tomorrow but the line has been doing great as they sit right now. I think Sanders may be on the mend but the staff doesn't want his first career start to be against Georgia. I know that sounds kind of silly but you could literally ruin a kid's confidence by throwing them into the fire at the wrong time. Either way, I stand by my earlier prediction that the defense will win this game if we come out on top. IF we win I think it will be the defense forcing a turnover in Georgia territory and giving us a short field to take the W in a close one.

One item that needs to be asked is how so many players are getting injured in the off-season? I can understand during the season but off season?
McCoy tore his ACL in February. It’s common to do that in a non contact manner. Hobbs just has a stress fracture and will be available relatively soon. 2?

In order to develop players, you have to practice with some contact. Otherwise, it’s not football. Contact (or even no contact) can result in injuries. These guys lift huge amounts, run fast, and hit each other. The body breaks down occasionally.

I can see McCoy being back next week for UAB or making the trip to Ms St.
Gibson is likely gone for the season, or at least will be a medical RS and see limited time towards the end.

Sanders - who knows. That's a nerve damage issue and the only thing that can fix that is time...time is relative and different for everyone when it comes to healing.
My brother had a kidney stone removal procedure and he was back to work in 3 days, but I had the same procedure and was off work for 2 weeks.
so, you're the soft one of the family....jk.
