I've always been a little worried about this guys coaching ability, I know he is a great recruiter and I know that JC is terribad, but is it just me or could this guy also be a little bit responsible for the performance tonight? His only coaching job is QB's so i would imagine he spends more time with JC than anyone else. Look at how much better Garcia is playing tonight. I know hes family and all and it may be too soon to tell but so far hes not doing so hot.

I thought Reeves from the get-go was one of the weakest members on our staff and think the family thing is the only reason he got in. I hope Kiffin wises up and gets strictly business and hires someone else.

Reaves was the recruiting coordinator for Spurrier at South Carolina. Get off of his back. It's not his fault that he doesn't have a competent QB to work with right now.

Chill out keyboard badasses, im not on his back, i was asking for opinions/discussion, ill be sure to put that in the title next time so you dont get confused. And I wouldnt really use his recruiting record at S-Car as a defense for him.

Still early and not going to bash any of the coaches right now. But South Carolina has not been known for its Great QB play.

I don't think any coach could turn JoJo Crompton into the world-beater we hoped for today. It sure as hell didn't help his fragile psyche when the fanbase booed him. Reaves deserves a lot more than Crompton and 2 games to decide whether he is competent.

Reaves has little to do with a player that doesn't execute on gameday in my opinion. The weak part of the staff is Crompton.

I don't think there is a need to defend a coach. Coaches can't play for them.

Heck, I would be happy with an average QB at this point.

I agree, and im probably jumping to conclusions, I just hope that when we do get a decent QB, that this guy can coach him because i have never seen a QB do well with him as their coach. Hopefully its just because he has been cursed with terrible talent.

Laying some blame on Reaves for Crompton's awful play would be like blaming Stevie Wonder's Art teacher because he colored outside the lines.

Judging by what we've seen from the QB position out of SC where Spurrier has always banked a high caliber QB, David Reeves isn't all that great.

Can't blame the coaches for CRomptons mistakes. They can only tell him what to do but can't execute for him. He's got to be alittle more tougher mentally.

As my grandfather told me, "Son, you can't polish a turd."

Think about that in the context of coaching JC into a productive quarterback. Best case you change its form, but you still wind up with a mess.

+1. I also stated to someone concerning putting Stephens in, "It's like a trading a horse turd for a dog turd, they're both still crap."

Seriously, the young man locks on one receiver and is either unable or unwilling to check down. For instance on that near interception in the end zone in the first half...Stocker was wide open in the back of the end zone but because the play was designed for Cottam, he didn't see him.

He seems to have little or no pocket presence whatsoever. He won't/can't step up and since that DB nearly killed him last year he certainly won't cut it up and run for positive yards.

The guy seems like a mouth breather. I hope he figures it out, but honestly, would your boss give you this many chances at work to screw up?

Plus that mustache screams hick camaro driver from the mountains of North Carolina. Seriously JC, wash your top lip!

If Reaves is the QB coach, then he spends all day with him in position meetings and beside him during position drills and team drills during practice, so yes, being the QB coach, he is most responsible for Crompton's play.
I'm sure clk has input but has all that other hc stuff.

He looks just like last year and Reeves didn't work here then. Coaching can only accomplish so much. At the end of the day, JC has to read the field and make the throws and he has shown no ability to do that.
