i just read an article on how he has caused a lot of controversy. I know he is a talented recruiter, but as a QB coach? .. Smelley sucks and so does Garcia, even though Garcia was highly recruited. Of course a lot of the blame has to go on the ole ball coach, but how has Reaves proved to be an effective QB coach when his QB had like 4 interceptions today? .. just a thought...

If you really think Reaves was the actual qb coach at USCe, you need to pay closer attention.

Garcia is no longer his QB. Not to mention Spurrier coached the QB's as much, and probably more than Reaves did.

i know spurrier had most of that authority but still.. i guess CLK will have a lot of authority over QBs as well?

time will tell on that one. But either way, the way Spurrier ran the qb show, you can't really tell what kind of qb coach Reaves is from his time at USCe

Spurrier coached QB's...

And it was blatantly obvious that the game appears to have passed the Ole Ball Coach by.

The man at one point was as good as it got, and put UF back on the map. But he looks burned out, and is just not the same anymore.

I think it has more to do with his recruiting abilities:

In addition, Reaves was given the duties of recruiting coordinator in February 2006. He solidified his reputation as one of the top young recruiters in college football when the 2007 Gamecock signees formed a consensus top-10 class and were regarded as the most highly touted recruiting class in school history. Following the February signing day, he was selected as one of the top 25 recruiters in the country by Rivals.com.

I'm pretty sure he will be an upgrade over our QB coach from this year. Even if he doesn't talk to the QBs once he will still be an upgrade....

Yeah, and also he can supposedly recruit a little bit.

Stinky & Gracious always run to the old man & he gives them "the look" one way or the other. Spur was the qb coach.

I have heard though that Reaves was somewhat of an outsider with the players.

This happens often though when the main recruiter recruits a kid, he puts on the charm and best friend hat to the player he is recruiting. But once the player gets to campus, suddenly that guy that wooed them isn't as friendly. And he probably did that, like others do and got a bad rep.

Plus he didn't exactly care too much for Spurrier, which may have pushed him to be more of an outsider. I would say if I worked for Spurrier I'd have been in a bad mood often...

I think he'll be fine here. He's around guys he knows, and of course he will have the enforcer Ed Orgeron to keep him honest if he gets out of line.

agreed. the qbs could have coached eachother better than the coaching they got.

Our QB's will get tons of better coaching from Reaves and Chaney. And CLK for that matter.

I don't blame Spurrier for giving Reaves that title, The COCKS QB's suckage takes all the heat off of him...

I think Reaves is coming to UT only for recruiting purposes and because Lane wants people he know's he can trust. The new OC and Kiffin will be the one's working with QBs mostly. I'm sure Reaves will be glad to be out of SC where Spurrier's coaching of the QBs is a reflection on Reaves coaching ability.
