David Cutcliffe what if

He's done a good job at Duke. He completely salvaged Ainge's college career--made him much better. Cut would have been MUCH better than Dooley. He wouldn't have been my first pick--and he's too old now--but he can coach. Hell, he and Chief are MUCH better coaches than anyone we've had since they left. But I was HAPPY to see excuse-making Fulmer get sacked...

He's six years older than Charlie Strong who has been touted by many on this board.

about the only times UT has been worth a damn in the last 20 years is when cut was coaching the offense. He won games at Ole Miss which isn't easy to do and now he has Duke in a bowl game. Cut would be a major upgrade, it would just be about what kind of staff he can put together is all that worries me.

IF we had hired Cutcliffe then we would have probably won 7 in the first year, 7 last year and probably 8 this year and we would all still be complaining and starting hire Gruden threads, that I am sure of.

I'm not sure how many we would have won last year. Da'Rick basically won the vandy game for us and Cut would have sent his A** packing a LONG time ago.

Cut took Duke, the door mat of the ACC to leading the ACC in five years. Anyone think Dooley will have Tennessee leading the SEC in two more years? I sure as hell, don't think so. I'd take Cut. He could win with this team!

Duke loves him, and he obviously loves them. Did you see him tonight? I was so proud for him and their team. They never gave up.

If we ended up with him I wouldn't b upset. I'd take him over hiring another assistant from sabans coaching tree or any other unproven HC. Basically what I'm saying is IF we cant get any of the BIG name proven coaches, I'd be way happier to get him over Kirby Smart or any other unproven "up and comer".
And yes I was one of the people pissed off when we turned him down for the job because Hammy wanted to be cheap and keep chaney and wouldn't allow Cut to bring in his own complete staff. Thats probably why most big name coaches refused to come back when we ended up with Dooley, cause hammy was basically telling them they would be paid in the lower half of the SEC and they couldnt pick their own staff, they had to keep Kiffins leftovers because they were still under contract. So instead of Cut or another coach that could actually coach we ended up with Dooley, and at first I was upset, but then I said he was our coach and I'll support him, but then he just kept finding ways to lose and then it just kept happening and instead of owning up to it he started blaming anyone and everyone but himself. hec the whole staff got turned over and this yer hes still finding ways to lose and lose embarassingly.

Cut loves Tennessee and he would bring stablity. He can do it!

SEC is way to impatient. He was a winner at Old Miss with Eli Manning, and they still weren't satisfied. He knows how impatient the Vols are for a win. I doubt he'd come if asked. They love him at Duke and has job stability.

Cut needs to stay at the basketball school, job security there. His seasons at Duke the past 4 years before this season:

2008- 4-8
2009- 5-7
2010- 3-9
2011- 3-9

Fans need to stop looking at a coaches current record and see how they have fared prior years.
