I'm sure we could land Mike Leach before we get Cutcliffe. If that's what it came down to, I would take Leach in a heartbeat

Cut is a world class QB coach. He may even be a great play caller. He would instill discipline and the Tennessee Tradition.

IMO - as a Head Coach, we are in trouble.

When I think of him trying to recruit against Saban & Meyer I get a really bad feeling.

They'd need to improve that with some better recruiters who are current in the UT market... maybe with some of the current staff left behind.

The difference is he was the OC, not the Head Coach - 2 different jobs. He is a fantastic Offensive Coordinator and an average head coach. Hammy needs a very good hire, and bringing Cut back would not even be close

Fair analogy, except I don't think I would make the "best friend" metaphor for USC. I'd consider USC more like being left for some effeminate, metrosexual guido that she dated in high school.

Loyalty is the first thing that comes to mind when I think about Cutcliffe. :crazy:

We should stay away from anyone associated with The Fired Regime. Kippy Brown just being part of the staff is as close as I want to get to the "old group."

We got rejected by the flashy young ambitious guy, and then we tried to hire another one but he turned us down, so now we're scared and rushing into the arms of the safe old guy with no upside.

Cutcliffe is a fine football coach. For Duke. There's no way he is going to be able to come into Tennessee and recruit well enough to compete for SEC championships.

I am afraid this situation is going to result in the worst case scenario. I haven't heard a good report in a long time. I think this is going to be a nightmare. If cutcliffe becomes our next head coach, I'm calling it our entire coaching staff and AD Hamilton are all fired within three years. Sad thing is it looks like there just isn't anyone interested in the job.

Everyone needs to relax. Last year it was assumed that Butch Davis was going to be H/C. Who thought that they would hire Lane Kiffin? Certainly not me.

Hamilton wants to get this right. I would be leery of paying any attention to any rumors or info leaked out ahead of time.
