David Cutcliffe (merged...with sources!)

If we're down to Calhoun, Cutcliffe, and the coach from LA Tech, then I don't understand why we don't just stay with Kippy Brown. I'd rather see him get the shot...he has NFL experience and can recruit. And could likely get a decent staff together.

If we don't end up naming Kippy as HC, we definitely need someone with a similar demeanor. Him speaking at the presser was the only encouraging thing I've seen about this program in the last 48 hours. He was unflappable.

This is Coach Cut's HC record. One sec division title and a 53-44 over all record. I would say if we are really down to Coach Cut as a candidate let's just keep Kippy and move on.

Knock Manning out of the equation and what do you have? We will be well on our way toward becoming the next Kentucky.

THANK GOD you all arnt making the coaching choice. does anyone remember going to the SEC championship in 2007 after him only being here in his second year? thats because he is a damn fine COACH. nick saban is probably the most boring guy in the would and never shows emotion but he wins because he knows how to coach.

I know we are all used to a sports car but people wreck and die in sports cars all the time.
what we need is a hummer that is slow and steady and will slowly get you up the mountain!!!

Please let it be a smoke screen...please let it be a smoke screen...

There is absolutely no reason that we would consider Cutcliffe.

. . . but if true I guess like hat said regarding Muschamp, I will have a lot more free time on Saturdays now.

Staff I am hearing:
HC/Play Caller: Cutcliffe
Passing Game Coordinator/WR Coach: Kippy Brown
DC/LB Coach: John Chavis
RB Coach: Kurt Roper
OL Coach: Matt Luke

Better than 12-21.

I know there are lots of offensive schemes out there. Watching Cutcliffes offense as the might as well say SCREEN PASS OFFENSE. I would rather get punched in the face than watch that slop every saturday.:bad:

Where is the like button on here similar to facebook?!?! I am there with you about Cutcliffe.

This entire post is made of fail. From your endorsement of Cutcliffe, to your weak use of car knowledge.

I'm guessing Calhoun isn't interested and now we are going to get Cutcliffe assuming he doesn't change his mind either.

A year ago, we could have gotten Kelly or Kiffin, and now a year later we are going to go with Cutcliffe, a coach Ole Miss fired? Hamilton really messed this up.

We're hiring an Alabama man who's left the program twice because we're desperate to hire somebody who will be loyal to us. Awesome.

Good Grief... I am a great supporter of Mike Hamilton, but if he brings Cut back I will be against him. I have deep respect for Coach Cutcliffe, but I do not want him back as our HC. This has got to be the worst news yet.

I really was optimistic about Muschamp, but you have to respect the man's loyalty! If we can't get Calhoun, Whittingham, Petersen, etc... to leave their respective shool, then the Vols football job has seriously taken a huge tumble.

I just hope we don't look at brining Cutcliffe in. I want a younger coach that will bring something new to the University. Cutcliffe has been here and he is an older gentleman. Please let this be an inaccurate report.

People never die in Hummers. Great analogy.

If it isn't than I will be very disappointed because I will know then that UT football is in such a sorry state that it was the best we could do.

You know - I get how Cutcliffe might be on Hamilton's list. It supposedly was 20-deep.

But how the ($*%$ is he #2 on that list? If he's 15+, fine...hire him.

But HOW IS HE YOUR #2 GUY!?!??!

We want stability at head coach. Quick, let's hire someone with a heart condition to a really stressful job.

Dude lane kiffin bailed 3 weeks before signing day after all of the coaches were already taken. I don't know what you expect to happen.
