Confirmed by a few Vol media outlets. #Grumors #Smokescreen

I personally would prefer Charles Davis, but a lot of people seem to be high on Blackburn. Any particular reason why? I don't know a lot about him.

"I wouldn't get out of control on that front just yet. He is in Knoxville routinely; his car dealership is here, lots of family in town. Obviously we think he's a candidate, but I wouldn't put much stock in anything big going down today or in the immediate future."

David was our Assistant AD for years. He was well liked by everyone especially donors. He was highly respected by coaches of all sports when he was here. There were quite a few who felt he should have been AD when Hamilton was hired by I think the feeling was he was too young and had no experience at being the head guy. He has now checked the boxes successfully henceforth the love.

Yeah....he's been a fixture of the UT AD for years. He's filled multiple roles here successfully, and he's been wildly successful in his role as AD at Chatt. He's Big Orange Family, and is supported by lettermen of multiple sports. He's the guy we need.

not to mention the amount of success in sports UT Chatt has had since he's been there.

Spot on WT....then throw in the great work he's done at UTC. He's gotta be the leader in the clubhouse, although I'd personally love to see Coach Fulmer in there as well. Give me either and I'm a happy little Vol Fan.

He's practically gone through the Vols farm system...starting as a student assistant under Majors. Basically worked every area in that office since 1990. Now has run his own show at the highly successful level at UTC. All the other candidates I've seen mentioned, are stabs in the dark in at least one or more areas. Always the top candidate for a good reason.

Well put.
But this making 100% sense is what has me concerned though.
Making the logical choices for the office spaces has not been our calling card enough.

Since Blackburn worked extensively for Fulmer, I'd wager the type of role that the coach is conducting at ETSU (or was proposed) would be an ideal fit. The day to day administrative crap would have been a drag. His strengths are his contacts and the good will he's built over the decades.

Get this done NOW!!!

buTch and all our other coaches need stability and to know for certain what's going on and what to expect.

This IS the right person at the right place at the right time so there's no intelligent reason to delay.

Vol Nation, UNITE and help push this through before something screws it up!

Building a Champion person by person...VFL...GBO!!!

I don't claim (or have) insider status, but I do have a friend about as inside as you can get. Out of respect, I rarely ask serious questions because those inside generally would rather not say. I did ask how the wind was blowing and was told "toward Blackburn." This person was very happy it was blowing that way.

Obviously not a done deal, but the right people want him in that position.

I'm romantizing the idea of a former great, NC winning head coach who loves and has dedicated much of his life to the program coming back in a formal role and being our AD...that being said, I've definitely come around to your way of thinking Butchy....Blackburn is the best man for the job and oughtta be our next AD.

Lots of wind blowing around. I recommend Beano.

I think we can get the best of both worlds. Fulmer involved and available as a face of the program...and Blackburn doing the boring, dirty work.
