David Blackburn confirms he has spoken to a search firm

I still think Mike Bohn is the best candidate because he embraces the true Cincy work ethic that is demonstrated by Chancellor Davenport and Coach Jones.
I like Blackburn, but UTC is not as big of a program as Cincy. He's a VFL, but I would really love to get BOHNed!! :good!:

Poor troll effort imo.

The way the screen shot reads, sounds more like they asked him if he had..

Not anything he said in an interview I read. Maybe they got the answer by phone or text etc.. not sure?

You have so many writers covering it, how can anybody be sure? That is why I refer to it as a massive clown show and pie fight. But the clowns might have been fun.

I think the OP is reading things that aren't there, GEV. His evidence is the same thing we read yesterday.

Not the first time, won't be the last.

I was reading the headline from the article. The article from SEC Country stated "Tennessee athletic director candidate David Blackburn confirmed to Seccountry.com that he has to spoken with a search firm".

The article fails to mention which firm he had spoke to. Either way.. It does give insight that Blackburn is really interested in the position.

Although as mentioned above that the article did not state the firm.. It did mention that- "If asked to be a part of this process officially, in terms of an interview I would love to,”

I listened to his interviews.
My takeaways:
He knows the challenges he would face and where all of "the bodies are buried". Therefore, he [BOLD] wouldn't need to be brought up to speedo [/BOLD] on UT history and culture.

Yeah, speedo would be too far too bring him up :pilot:

Blackburn or not, I can't see a new chancellor hiring CPF as the AD. Doesn't make sense on any business level.

Yeah I am linked to the Tennessee recruiting page on SEC country, but when you have several links to 14 teams and a conference page, browsing about their site gets a little screwy. Finally found it though.

It goes without saying David would want it. He grew up in Loudon, most of his family and friends are up here, and he graduated and cut his teeth here. I guess we will know once Davenport gets through searching. And I can't help but think that the more campaigning people do, the longer she will search.

He seems like good candidate. Fulmer ok too, but I would probably give Blackburn the edge. A lot of upside for Fulmer, but could have some baggage and preconceived notions..."this is the way we did it back in the day" type stuff. Blackburn has done the job, done it well, in present state and think can hit the ground running better. Guy from Panthers sounds good too, but Blackburn correct in that all things being equal, would prefer someone who bleeds orange.

According to Hubbs, the committee will meet for the first time Sunday but it's mostly an organizational meeting. He also said TurnKey has already met face-to-face with Blackburn and Fulmer.

Adams had a pretty negative column today in the KNS about Fulmer and all the cesspool activities that were going on under his coaching tenure. Said the new Chancellor loses sleep at night over the sexual assault issues under Fulmer. FWIW.

Unless it's his obituary, I'm not reading anything associated with Adams in the paper.

NC and the NCAA have hd a few problems in the last few years. Nor sure I want to go there if he has been their AD for the last 6-8 years.

I'd have to check but I believe he was the replacement. Seems like he arrived in 2011 or 12 and the violations were for the previous time.

What I'm hearing now is that Blackburn was blackballed by the big boosters several weeks ago and Fulmer, seeing Blackburn didn't have a chance of getting it, put his own hat in the ring in order for UT to get a "Tennessee guy". If this is true, will someone in the know please reveal what the boosters had against Blackburn to cause him to be blackballed? Was it an ego problem or what?

Blackburn didn't kiss his butt enough when he was here probably! Would make me want him even more if that were the case!

Cunningham was hired at NC in October 2011 and the infractions occurred between 1993 and 2011.
Apparently Cunningham was brought in to clean up.

Leon: Blackburn had objected to Dooley against a booster. David has since said there is no remaining hard feelings between the two. Not sure of the boosters feeling.

Looks like it would be an asset on his resume if he objected to Dooley. What is it with some of these egotistical boosters?

Supposedly, it was the way he objected.
Which I still like. Nothing wrong with being a little rambunctious when trying to stop such a huge mistake.

It makes you wonder if there is something more that is causing such a concern with certain boosters. I understand being objected to and all that, but Dooley was a flat out mistake. He hurt this program and set us back years. It'd be one thing if he had success here and then bolted for another job. In my opinion, if that is the issue then the booster would realize Blackburn was right and let it go. But then again I guess if you have such a sensitive ego that was damaged you might have a long term issue.

Thunder Good-Oil and maybe LWS have more details but seems Blackburn may have made some "told you so" like (nothing major) comments afterwards but I'm not sure.

Either way, supposedly it's in the past now.
Guessing not everyone has the same personal favorite and the Chancellor knows this hire will impact her job (title IX and such). So I'm sure she wanted some say. At least a chance to object to a potential issue candidate.
