You sound like you are really well-informed on this, but I find it really hard to believe that she was fired purely or primarily because she simply was that bad at her job.
Executive-level people like this are usually only forced out for 1) some kind of gross misconduct or 2) they lose power struggles. She'd only been there a year too. It would make more sense if she had been there for many years and had a long list of questionable decisions she had made.
Pushing a post-modernist, identity politics agenda too hard (sex week, anyone?) could certainly qualify as (1) - Gross Misconduct in Tennessee. We're pretty much a red state; could certainly see a significant amount of unhappiness at state legislature level if she was truly pushing the diversity/inclusion angle as hard as portrayed.
I'm not saying this isn't a Haslam thing...as I already mentioned, hard for us outsiders to tell which it is.
But it could be this instead.
It could even be both, in concert.

By "gross misconduct" I mean something like Shumaker did (use university plane for personal trips, use university credit card for personal expenses, etc.). No evidence or even accusations she's done anything like that.
That stupid "Sex Week" thing been around for a while anyway If so, why is she the one that has to take the axe for it? Seems like cover, IMO.
Please tell me they aren't yelling, "Anchor Down!" or "Show Your Gold!" at you...
Be strong, JP!
Heh, my one consolation in all this is that the girls could not possibly care less about Vandy athletics. They'll cheer the Vols, even while wearing a Vandy shirt. :good!:
They're just economic socialists, social liberals, and political post-modernist feminist group identity-focused goofballs.
Fired her for poor communications, and hire her to teach communications????
:loco:[
DiPietro needs to be fired next. He is as inept as he says she was.
He's announced his retirement I believe. Convenient since he would have been pushed aside by Bill Haslam for that spot anyway. Power play is in full swing.
