You can take this two different ways:

I chose to think he’s a mercurial talent. But it also speaks to the youth of the line and just how much they had to be coached up last year. 2020 should be much better for all the backs at Tennessee, right?

He still could be a mercurial talent, in many ways.
Well, Ubben tried to stick it to Tennessee any chance he can get, I think it’s just in his reporter genes. But I tried not to take it as the rest of the running backs were just bad. Because they weren’t. The line just wasn’t ready.

Think you're looking into that tweet way too much there. I didn't take it as Ubben trying to "stick it to Tennessee" at all in that tweet. It's just a statement of fact.

We didn't score many rushing TDs last year. Lets hope he scores 15 this year and is not the leader on the team.

I think people are expecting too much from him going into next year. He had 4 td’s and 3 were against Vandy along with almost half his yards for the entire season.
I agree. He’s really small, but very quick. Doesn’t have the size to block blitzing LBs on play action. We need a banger to shoulder the load and him to mix it up. I hope we teach him some routes outta the backfield. But he can’t be the every play back.

It’s definitely an interesting stat. But the fact is really that Pruitt really didn’t give Grey enough opportunities this year. Not sure if it was loyalty to chandler and Jordan or what. But I thought Grey liked amazing earlier in the season in limited action. He just never got any extended work until the vandy game.

The way I see it, run blocking has improved the last few games. Let's face it, the run blocking sucked early on and most of last season except the BYU game.

Early on he was a terrible pass blocker which is understandable for a true freshman. But it more or less signalled to opposing defenses that it was a running play. For a while there, when Jordan came in they expected the pass too.

The lack of RB TDs this past season was the main reason for our red zone woes! EG will change this for 2020!

Perhaps it’s because he struggled in pass protection early on. Think man....

We were 7th in the SEC in passing TDs. 13th in rushing TDs. Just imagine which most complaints are about - QBs or RBs? Predictable negavols.
It's mind-blowing. Everybody thinks it's all about our QB play, yet we've been a bad running team since Josh Dobbs graduated... and it's not because we're seeing a bunch of 8 man fronts.

Travis Stephens disagrees.

The guy has talent; he showed that vs BYU, but for what ever reason the line did not block for him until the Vandy game. He aint gonna win the Heisman like some might think, and he definitely aint gonna run over anybody. He is pretty good though.

That's not CJP style. Given the choice, he wouldn't play the best RB more than 50% of the time.

With Chandler, Gray, Jordan, CFA, Tee Hodge, Crouch on goal short yardage situations, and maybe even Holiday, there is no reason to wear out our best RBs.

We actually DO see a lot of 8 man fronts. Most of the DCs who coach against us invite us to throw the ball in many cases.

I keep seeing people say that, yet I don't remember that happening much. Why would DCs bring extra defenders when we struggled to block 6 and 7 man fronts in the first place? We spend most of our offense in 10 and 11 personnel that make it nearly impossible to play 8 man fronts.

I really want to see some creativity with Holiday in goal to go situations. With JJ back there it was a foregone conclusion that it was basically a power. Hopefully mixing in some throws, power option and read option can improve our red zone abilities.
