It's way more in depth than just a credit check, it's a 3 interview process. They ask questions about specific charges.

I understand the idea behind it, but I don't think the financial situation of someone like a web designer should matter when it comes to employment. They aren't the people giving out the advice.

With that said, I do it for airline miles. Lost only one payment in the shuffle in 14 years....I've been lucky.


yes, should you choose to play with the snakes, you can never ever ever not pay it off each month. It will steamroll ya fast

he sometime doesnt take in the practical because it would go against his philosophy. Take for example business expenses. He, of course, is opposed to credit cards but if you only have a debit card then it adds an even further burden onto your family's finance.
Go to the gas station and use your debit card and the pump plainly says they debit $75 from your account until the transaction goes thru then corrects the charge. You at that point could incur "stupid tax" by bouncing transactions even though your balance is enough. Not practical.
Go to a hotel and put up your debit card against your room and it will debit up to $400 from your account until you check out even though your charges might be less. Its not worth it at that point.
His basics are great - live on less than you make, be debt free, etc....-but there are many exceptions to the rules and he wont bend from his rules of thumb

You also pick up some rights using a credit card that you don't with a debit. I get using cash instead of credit but using a debit card is often not very smart.

If you pay it off each month, like I have for 12 years now, there's no issue. Plus It's not like I go crazy because I have a credit card.

I know a girl that is his #1 assistant right now. She seems to like him but he may be nice to her. I haven't asked her much about it.

Used properly, credit cards can be a useful tool. The problem lies with the user instead of the card.

Trouble is the vast majority of people don't pay off the balance monthly and the debt skyrockets.

It is not just a matter of paying it off, it's that people overspend with credit. I pay mine each month, but I can promise it's easier to swipe than pay cash.

My buddy is saving hundreds by going all cash. He physically has to watch the stack of money decrease with each purchase.

From what I understand, the pay is good but not great but there are other perks, for example, they paid for a friend of mine and her husband to go to France.

How would it look if Dave Ramsey had a radio show that centered around financial responsibility, yet the people he hires are financial misfits?

It seems like a perfect opportunity for them to learn. If he really likes helping people, surely he can help an employee.

Also, I'm not talking about people that are out of control with debt or spending. Misfits is a strong word.

He's like Paul Finebaum, the guy you love to hate. I remember everyone was calling in complaining when they first put Dave on in Alabama. But they were listening!

No, it's not. There will always be people that need his "advice". It's comical listening to his show. The voices and some of the circumstances change, but effectively it's the same caller over and over again.

Same here. I enjoy my very high credit score, which allows me to get home, vehicle, and improvement loans at a very low cost, by continuously using credit then paying it off. Not to mention the airline miles, rewards, and other perks.

Self control people.

You would hire a 700lb man to run your weight loss clinic? Would you hire him with hope that he would change?

It's his company. He can hire who he wants, and it only makes sense that he hire people who fall in line with his company's mission.

Update bump.

For those that don't know, Ramsey's show left 102.5 for WLAC 1510 AM in Nashville. I don't have the ratings info, but I'm going to guess him moving to a Sports Talk station ended up being a horrible move for all involved.

What's really interesting is now on WLAC, he's moved to 5:00 to 8:00 PM CST. For as long as I can remember he's always had that 1:00 to 4:00 timeslot here. And it's live, so I wonder how much that's messed up his syndication.

Thanks. I have gone through Nashville multiple times at those times and wondered why I couldn't listen. I would guess he will be off the radio sooner than thought if those are his new times.

Like him or not IT WORKS.. That nagging wife of mine got me to get on it.
I paid off $237,00 in 2 1/2 years making $85,000...That was credit cards, student loans, cars, boats, cruise vacs, pissing away money
I did sell a TRUCK for a nice lick on it. I did take on a part time job mowing a few yards
But now ALL PAID OFF down to the house only

Now putting that extra money on my house $300 house it will be paid off in 1 year 2 mos..
I'm 58 got about 400K in my 401K. I could retire at 62 but I like my job pretty good.
I will give it some thought then.

I hated his ass his rich azz telling how you can do it i used to cuss him.
In about a year I will owe phone, Insurance, electric, TV and my Church

Its no fun not spending money buying when you want something, going on a big vacation every year. Not going out to eat all the time not going Titans games all the time. You pay your bills and pay your Church.

Its just how bad do you want to be out of debt, long as you like it and can live with it
carry on its your life. That nagging ass wife got me to do it. And now she has retired just my money coming in. Telling its like no other feeling and now I get what I WANT AND PAY CASH.

My wife and I signed up for FPU and started out first class this past Wednesday. We have already completed baby step #1 and are both inspired to pay off all of our debts (credit cards and student loans). Gonna be tough for a couple of years but will be well worth it.

it simple but I like his method. The feeling you get when you pay one of those accounts down to zero is definitely a high you want to repeat

we have allowed ourselves to use one CC simply for rewards but have it setup to pay the full balance every month. It and the mortgage are the only debt we allow ourselves

Guys you can do it go for it and don't stop. Like he says after you get it done.
You can live like no other.. Im 58 wish I had done this when I was a younger man..
