I think the chances of that being what he actually said is very, very slim. I would just about bet anything he didn't say Dooley will get 3 more years. It wouldn't surprise me if it was all made up.

That's why asked the question in the op.

7 wins would be a improvement over the last 2 years. That in itself should give him at lest one more year.

I get the full support, but I don't think for a second he has 3 years left guranteed.

I dont think its "guranteed." If the bottom just falls completely out of the whole program, a move will be made.

Everyone will be fooling themselves if they think that UT losing a game they "arent supposed" to lose here and there will get Dooley canned. Wont happen.

Just wanting to get confirmation on if the guy was credible before I posted it. My bad for not wanting to spread more baseless rumors here. Welcome to my ignore list with DJ.

please not the ignore list :cray::mf_surrender:

Still giving Dooley the benefit of the doubt.

However, I would like to see Larry Porter called. It would be an upgrade.

If Dooley doesn't beat UF next year, the boosters should start raising hell. There really will be no excuse with the talent and experience he will have going against a down UF team at Neyland. It would speak volumes to his ability and confidence to start out on top of the SEC east right out of the gate.

How do you figure?

just my opinion but it seems too cookie-cutter for my tastes. I would bet a sizable sum that 2 more losing seasons (maybe 1) and there is no 3rd. I also think him saying "the staff" means the staff Dooley wants to run with. Change can still be made

I agree, and like someone posted earlier it could be contingent on if he lays a big turd next year. Who knows..

Public statements of support aren't worth much. Dooley will very likely have expectations placed upon the team's performance next year.

That being said, Dooley isn't going anywhere this year.

It wasn't a public statement according to the poster on VQ.

What if he beat Florida but loses to Georgia, Alabama, SC and NC state. His retention won't be based on the results of one game, it will be on the entire season. What if he loses to Florida, but beats everyone else?
LOL. Fulmer's supporters run around claiming a "decade of dominance" and he routinely got hammered by Florida
