Dave Hart To Speak To Media Tomorrow at 1pm

You keep leaving out the distinct possibility that you lose. You think its bad now? Child's play to what's in store if there's a kernel of truth to it and you take a multimillion dollar hit saying so.

You guys chomping at the bit to teach the plaintiffs and their lawyers a lesson need to understand that you do not know all the facts. You are basing your opinion 10 % on what you think the facts will turn out to be, 90 % on what you hope them to be, and 0% on what they actually are.

I have to agree... Look at all the people outside of the state who think UT is nothing more than an importer of sex slaves for the football team in hanks to the media reporting... I will let the people in the know make the best decision as to proceed or to settle the lawsuit. And settling doesn't mean admission of guilt, you have to take into consideration that the Feds are still doing their investigation into the Title IX allegations... You don't want them around forever, they will find something, even if they have to make it up

Alleged cover-up. Lots of details of the FSU situation were glossed over in media outlets, like they're doing with our current situation. My FSU buddies pointed out a ton of stuff in the investigative reports that make what FSU did look a lot less damning than what was presented constantly on ESPN and other outlets. Of course they didn't do things perfectly, but reading how the accuser changed her story and tried to have friends lie for her are some big red flags.

The media only cares about clicks and they'll get it any way they can even if it means inappropriately trashing an institution, its coaching staff and players.

Hope we fight this to the end, but it might make for a long, hard couple of years.

This has definitely made me less judgemental of other programs. I have absolutely lost all faith in journalists as truth-seakers.

Well said.
You're a pretty smart gator.

No one can even describe a "rape culture" much less prove one exists. They went too far by calling it a culture. Only way they win is if UT settles and pays them. Can't prove culture when it doesn't exist.

So are you. You don't know anything about the case either. Yet you continue to say it's in the best interest of the school to settle. How do you know that the plaintiffs aren't asking for $20 million? How do you know that UT doesn't have a ton of proof on their side that says they will win this thing hands down?

We'll just have to wait and see who blinks first.

UT legal costs will keep going up as they prepare to fight and defend all of this.

The same is true for the law firm for the accusers, their legal costs are going to keep going up every single day.

The law firm will collect at least 1/3 of any money collected so at some point that law firm has to decide how much of their money they want to keep throwing at this in hope of UT folding and agreeing to settle or if they realistically believe they can win in court.

UT is a state institution so we should have top attorneys and much more money than their law firm has.

Right now their law firm is getting free press to pile up negative PR against UT.

UT has also done a good job of free press to try to get positive PR going our way.

Their law firm is throwing every single thing they can think of at UT in hopes that the PR pressure will cause UT to fold and settle fast.

If UT believes they can Win in court and stands strong with their message that "we'll see you in court" then the law firm of the accusers may fold after deciding they aren't willing to throw more of their money at this.

Right now it's a PR fight and a game of chicken to see if UT will weaken, fold and settle.

Myself, not knowing any real facts, I'd stand strong and keep our positive PR going with a press conference every week by our attorneys, the AD and the coaches.

I'd also love to see buTch and UT file countersuits to bring legal actions against all the accusers and the federal government to try to get Title IX thrown out or rewritten since it's now just a means by which a college can be sued as a money grab.

Sounds like it was a bad law when written and put in place.

We need some football to talk about and to just let this play out and wait and see what happens.

Team 120, climbing the rankings WIN by WIN...VFL...GBO!!!
