From Si

“Doeren, a Kansas native, who is 56–34 in stints at Northern Illinois and NC State, led the Wolfpack to an 8–4 finish after entering the season on the hot seat. A source told SI that he would be very tempted by the Vols job.”

What say you all?

I’d take him, but I’m not over the moon about it.

He's a good coach, but not a great coach. He'd be 3rd or 4th best in the SEC East. I'd rather go after Tee Martin before Doeren.

You want to talk mattress burning just hire this buffoon. I live in NC and have watched him first hand. He was going to lose his job if he had a bad year and his numbers at NC STATE are barely 500. He wouldn't last more than a year in Knoxville and that damn Currie better not get within 200 miles from this clown.

It looked like that NC State team underachieved this year.

NC State underperformed this year.

After the loss to Clemson, this dude took no blame on himself. He publicly blamed the refs and a laptop instead of taking personal accountability.

Would be a huge mistake to hire Doeren.

I've watched a lot of NC State games the last several years. And he is decent coach, but I believe has a low ceiling. What you're seeing at NC State is what you're going to get. Consistent and solid, but not regularly competing for conference championships

They didn't underperform. Vegas had an O/U for them of 7.5 games. 8 wins is about right.

They were just hyped up big time in the preseason as potential dark horses.
