Dave Clawson or Cutcliffe projected by ESPN

These predictions were made by 2 announcers who apparently are unfamiliar with the coaching search. As much as I do not expect a home run hire, I also do not expect either of these guys to get much consideration.

Dont listen to these hack jobs. They are throwing darts with no basis.

They don't know the Grude Force is with Us.

That is why even Kiffen, with a huge buyout to protect UT, would not bother me now, because he is a heck of a offensive mind and his hiring would scare other teams. They would hate to see him here, just like I would hate to see him at UF. I will stand back and wait for the flames now.

No flames from me. I'd love to get Kiffin, but there is an almost zero chance Currie would ever make that hire.

Knoxville would riot and burn if the Clawfense is brought back here and I like Cutt but he is just too damn old to restart at UT.

Currie hired Synder out of retirement...Cutcliff could coach as long as Synder....he would be in Knoxville for 15 years!

I hold onto the sliver of hope that maybe our AD is smarter than the damn media.

C'mon, Currie. Make a damn good hire and shut these Richards up.

Either one of those and all my UT stuff will have a cold, dark place in the attic until the next coach search in 3 years.

And I actually like Clawson and Cutcliffe. Just think both are in their comfort zones in the ACC. Don't see either one bringing a staff with them that can go toe to toe with the big boys of the SEC in recruiting.

Cut has already went toe to toe with the big boys in the SEC. LOL

You guys are right but you know if either get the job after their presser we’ll have a ton of people suddenly declaring how they now like the hire and he’ll be the “right man for the job.”

Happened with Dooley, happened with Jones, and will happen again.

I would rather Rehire Dooley - Butch was a better hire than either of these Relics .. We need a Fresh & Dynamic Face- Rather take a gamble on a young great Coach than just play not to Lose with these 2 Options

Cut would do an excellent job here.

Get out of your emotions and honestly try to make the case that Derek Dooley...lol (it’s hard to even type this with a straight face).....has been or would be a better coach than Coach Cut.

Btw, Cut is about 3 stratospheres better a head coach than Sgt Carter.

I’m not getting involved in this coaching search frenzy much. In fact, doing my best to stay away. But if either Cut or Clawson are hired, it will be absolute proof that this university is NOT committed to winning. Same if they hire Norvell(sp?) or Brohm.

Not high on Schiano at all. Of ALL of them, that’s the last guy I’d want here. Regardless of whether or not he knew what was going on at PSU, the taint surrounding him is off putting, and nothing I’d want even remotely associated with Tennessee. Add to that the guy has a reputation as a complete a$$hole, and it isn’t hard to see he wouldn’t fit in.

And no, I don’t want Gruden even if it were possible to get him. Dude hasn’t coached in years, and when he did his greatest success was with Dungy’s team...and went mediocre after that. Flame away, but I just don’t think he’s as good an option as we could get at Tennessee (if the administration is committed to winning).

My top 3 (that still seem to be options) would be:
1. Petersen
2.Campbell
3.Frost

I’d be exited at any of those hires. It would mean UT is willing to pay the money to get back to a winning tradition, it would indicate that they are once again committed to building a winning program, that they have learned that cheap isn’t always in the best interests of the program, and that they are listening to the fans who support the program.

At this point, UT football is way past the point of the usual cyclical downturns. They are an afterthought in the national conversation at best. That needs to be fixed. This is the hire that will basically tell us what administration wants or expects the future of the program to be.

Regardless of who they hire, I will support the team. How enthusiastically and with how much of my hard earned money...that remains to be seen.

My 2 cents. Back to my regularly scheduled life.
