If we control the line of scrimmage on defense, we have an excellent chance in this game! Simms will impress and we win! The Hill might sink a little from the celebration!

GO VOLS!!

This game is make or break game for both teams IMO. Oregon wins, it gives them momentum to try and run the pac50 and play for in a bcs bowl. If we win it put us on everyones radar as a legit threat this year. I really hope the Ducks come in smelling their own **** like Cal did a few years ago....I would give anything to have been in Neyland that night.

I was in Neyland that night...I gotta say it was absolutely electric...amazing experience!

I like how everyone is likening this game to Cal '06 just because we play in the same conference as Cal.

It does seem similar in some ways, except we aren't as good now...we could still pull this one out though.

I like how every duck thinks they are gonna win with a guy who played a little in a different system 2 years ago, & sat out last season holding Masoli's mouth piece.

This is going to be a fun gAme regardless but how pathetic do u have to be to come to another teams board, talking trash and making grammar corrections?

Grow up. See you guys in two weeks. I hope u come back after the game. We are havin deep-fried duck. Yum.

Well this kid will let them run the spread more effective. This is going to be a close game. Vols have enough on both sides of the ball to make it interesting.

No, actually, I'm not. It's just ridiculous how much people take stock in them. I bet Wyoming had a bunch of 5 stars when they beat Tennessee. I bet Boise St. had a bunch of 5 stars when they beat us the past 2 seasons and Oklahoma a few years back.

It is so stupid to base a team's talent off of star rankings.

The star rankings are all people, who aren't recruiting gurus, have to go off of. Sometimes they are right. sometimes they are wrong. I agree that you can't base a teams talent based on the player's number of stars our of high school. I am pretty fed up with people's obsession as well.(/rant)

agree. i tend to like to go on certain schools that have offered somebody. for example if florida, bammer, texas, etc offer a kid, he's prob. preety good IMO

Well, only ECU and Eastern Kentucky offered Chris Johnson...

well who would've thought with his size he would've been that good with his blazing speed. a lot of the good players in the NFL have come from small schools, which the titans tend to love. btw i didnt say every kid had to have 30 offers to be good, i was saying what i would prefer to go on rather than star ratings

It is the same system, only some terminology changes because of a defected WR whose dad also coached for the Ducks and both went to ASU (after Chip let the dad go).....I haven't seen any ducks saying we will win because of Darron Thomas. It won't be, it will be a collective effort and he will be apart of it but not soley responsible. No matter who the QB was he was going to be protected by a very experienced offensive line and will be able to hand the ball off to two RB's who could start for most teams in the country. Also, believe it or not, our defense will be there to back this offense up until they get it going. We are going to find out real soon......

Who's suggesting that Darron Thomas is the sole reason that we will win? If we beat you guys, it will be because we will run the ball on you guys and shut you guys down offensively. Our passing game isn't going to be the reason for our victory.

What victory? Counting chickens, or in your case ducks, usually gets you in trouble.

Saying you will be victorious and being victorious are two different things. Do you know our defensive scheme? Do you know our offensive scheme? Very few Vol fans REALLY know what we will look like this year and I doubt we will show much in the opener. We will be down this year, but coming into Neyland from the West coast and playing against a team you have very little film on cannot be good. OTOH, the Vols have tons of film to break down. IMO the Vols have a great chance to win if they create some turnovers and limit Oregon's scoring very early, like the first quarter. Bust this new qb's confidence early and often. Personally, Oregon's better on paper but I like the Vols to win for the reasons stated above. My prediction is 24-21.

Apparently you missed the part where I said "if we win".
