Dark Mode is back

When you pay players you tell them what to wear.
Do you now?

Joe Milton's NIL with Beats by Dre provided the entire team with Beats Pro @ $350 each. That's $35,000+/- just on what Joe gave to the team but I'm sure he got more than that from the deal.

Did you pony up that cash? Because that's only part of one deal for one player.

C'mon, Mr High Roller, tell me again that you pay these guys.

For those of us upset over us not wearing orange and white all the time, we have to understand it’s a different time and things this like help attract and retain talent because it’s what the players want and get hyped up about

Personally I don’t care if we wear spider man underoos as long as we win

Smokey greys don’t bother me and they look good at night. Just don’t think this is a good game for a blackout in the stands. We just need a crowd that is ready to make a lot of noise!!!! GBO

It's easy to say in the moment, but I suspect you would probably care a lot more than you think if Tennessee took the field wearing "spider man underoos."

I feel like we never wear the same thing. It's always something different. We have THE most iconic look in sports and we're only wearing it a few times a year because of this trend chasing

It's not a trend. It's Nike (and Adidas, for that matter) manufacturing demand by requiring that client programs wear alternates as part of their apparel deals. They all do it now. Why settle for fans buying one or two pieces of apparel when you can pressure them into buying so many more? I can't imagine the schools complain about getting to squeeze some extra sales out of the deal, either.

I mean, gotta make that money, right? It ain't like folks are spending big bucks to keep their team sideline polos current - no matter how many silly random stripes Nike puts on 'em each year.

Uh, okay, but the last South Carolina game buried the orange helmet idea for a good five or ten more years. You gonna bring out the dark mode jerseys for the rematch, you best be careful not to get those burned too.
Comments like this irk me lol. The orange helmets looked great and they were not the reason Tennessee lost last year.I don’t understand the superstition this fan base has against alternate uniforms.

We’ve got 2 alternates (3 if you count all orange) a far cry fro Oregon’s 872 options; the players like to do something different w wry now and then and if they want to, let ‘em… don’t complain about it, just support the team, let ‘em have fun!
Thank you! Vols fans act like we’re getting out of hand with alternates when we have 2. Traditionalist are annoying, the players love them so let them be lol

We need to show up. I’m leaving the game without a voice. Let’s smack them birds around. 🤘
Can we just wear orange and white? Is that too much to ask?
I don’t want black, I dont want grey, I want orange and white!
I’m not opposed to the black or grey, I just think we need to get back to being the BIG ORANGE!
Amen, brother.

We I don't care what YOU want. Players matter.

FYP Because a lot of us do care what HE wants.

Exactly. Look at commitment photos. How many were dark mode? How many were orange and white? Dark mode looks great and gets great reactions from recruits. Blue hairs just need to pipe down and go back to their club seats. They don't watch the game anyway.

Look, I'm an FOG too.
But i get it...night game, SEC East rival, ton of big name recruits visiting, so roll out the trendy threads.

My only ask is after that beating we suffered at their place last year, when we're up two scores with 2 minutes left, the POTS must play enter sandman...let them have their own.nightmare.

Hubbs said Tennessee is under contract with Nike to wear the Smokey greys 1x per year and dark mode 1x per year. I like that they did the Smokies against AP (although the version this year didn’t look good….I think the ones we wore in Baton Rouge are the best version of Smokies). I like that we’re wearing dark mode against SC if you have to pick a game. I want to be in traditional uniforms against Alabama, Florida, and Georgia. Even against Vanderbilt. I will say, I prefer traditional uniforms against Kentucky, but with it being Halloween weekend last year, the dark mode was cool.

This is a big recruiting weekend, so I actually would’ve been surprised if we hadn’t pulled them out this weekend.

Ok, but that means the rest of the year it’ll be orange and white, & white & white/orange… so what will people complain about after this?
Milton, Bob Kesling, Butch, Refs, Bob Kesling, Heupel’s cough, Tim Banks, the urinals, the broadcast crew, Bob Kesling, Hadden, Shields Watkins field, NOT wearing alternate units, the “Food City center”, Nico’s lack of playing time...

Tennessee colors are Orange & White...... Thats what we need to wear its a Vol tradition. STOP trying to change it. If you like Black so much pull for Vandy or Mizzou
Black was worn primarily for the first 30 years. Orange was first used in 1922 but those still had black numbers.

"The first football uniforms (1892) were put together by the individual players, with many variations, but generally consisted of a black pullover jersey with a sleeveless, buttoned overvest upon which were a “U” and a “T” to the right and left of the opening. In 1902 the overvest was discontinued. Pants were gray. In 1920 players sewed padding into their pants and wore elbow pads. In 1921 the team wore black jerseys with white numbers.

Orange (wool) jerseys, with black numbers on the back, were first worn on September 23, 1922 (Tennessee 50, Emory & Henry 0)."
