I was a nineteen year old recruit once. You wouldn't believe the name calling from the drill sergeants.

Difference is those drill sergeants had been in your shoes and gone through that same training. Their name-calling was because they knew it was for your own good. Everyone on here is just calling him a hack because their feelings are hurt that he chose another school, not because it will help him out in the future. This is just immature bitterness on the part of the VN boards.

How many of us have had to deal with a coach leaving our college basketball program and know what DThomp is going through? Oh None? Good to know.

Comparing the ridicule and adversity he went through last year to a teenager entering the military isn't smart sir. IMO

And please tell us who has called him a hack?

I think you are putting way to much value in a slow pg that scored 2 ppg. I think many us are celebrating tonight.

I never have seen the guy play but it seems like he didn't think he could perform in CDT system. At the end of the day it's his decision, his future. I wish him success.....along with the others who decided they didn't want to be Vols.:salute:

if you believe he was even considering Tenn then I don't know what to tell you. he was gone the minute he asked for his release and the only reason he told Tyndall that he would consider Tn was to keep the door open incase he couldn't find a school that was comparable to Tn in his own mind.

Exactly

This now makes 4 recruits and 2 players that have decided to go elsewhere. It's apparent that Martin recruited players that only wanted to play for him instead of Tennessee. I'm glad he's gone.

I feel you there. It's amazing to me to watch how society has extended childhood into the 20s these days.

That said, good luck to Darius.

Feelings are hurt? Over a subpar too slow semi point guard?

All the best to Darius. I am sorry he did not stay. I don't understand why he is leaving, but it is not necessary for me to understand. It was obviously a difficult decision for him and he took his time and decided what he thinks is best for him.
