Da'Rick's Future After Next Season

If everyone is healthy and we put three good recievers on the field, who gets double teamed? Have a guy good enough to go early is a good problem to have in the big picture.

I say he goes early. I don't know how much of the media trash talk about him is true, but he seems like a guy who is going to make his money while he can.

I like Hunter and Rogers and both are going to be 1st round picks. But the fact is you are wrong.Hunter had 16 catches for 302 yds and Rogers had 15 for 200 yds before Hunter got hurt.So your wrong about Rogers having better numbers.here is your fact finding

So what your saying is Rogers was really on pace to have 1,200 yards recieving with Hunter in the lineup? He had a better average in both games Hunter played than he did without him. Fact

Both of those games were against mediocre OOC competition. Fact.

i know i read somewhere on TOS that we were giving a recruiting pitch to a few WR that Hunter and Darick would be gone after this year and we need them to step up.

He wouldn't have had near as good a season had Hunter stayed healthy all year. I think he leaves early no doubt. Doesn't seem like the type of person to stay for the college experience. Money talks.

Rogers seems to be all about the $$$ so if he stays healthy he's gone.

Bray can't even read the D and call the right checkdowns which is 1 of the reasons our running game was so bad but IF he's working hard to learn to read the D and call the right checkdowns then he's probably gone too but his arrogance and lack of proof that he's dedicated and a hard worker WILL cost him and he'll LOSE many Millions of $$$ by leaving early.

Hunter may or may not leave but I think he may need his Senior year to comletely come back from his injuries, get his mindset right, learn more, get stronger and have more proof that he's NFL ready and guarantee a 1st round pick.

With the new NFL rookie deal unless you're guaranteed to go in the first 15 picks then going early may not really be a great deal depending on how much $$$ they can lose.

If, and a BIG IF, they all 3 return for their Senior season I think we'll be ranked pre-season really high and could be in the mix for a SEC Championship and maybe alot more which WOULD almost guarantee that all 3 get picked in the top 15.

VFL...GBO!!!

I think he will be gone and I also think this up coming season will be "all bout business" for him.
He isn't going to play around. He will be a team player and will give his all, so as to get a better draft status.

I see Rogers numbers going way down with Justin Hunter back. Hunter is a much better receiver and talent than Rogers. Hunter will be the featured receiver and will have the big numbers this upcoming year. Rogers will be back for the senior year to get out of Hunter's shadow. Rogers stock will go down with Hunter back. If he wants to be a 2nd or 3rd round pick he leaves after his junior year. If he stays, I see him as a 1st round pick following his senior year. Rogers needs to mature before he moves on.

I agree that he needs maturity, but I don't believe DR agrees. I believe he would leave today if he could get to the league. He probably feels he can't get out of here fast enough IMO if the locker room stuff and run ins with coaches are true.

:good!:A good year on and off the field he would be an idiot not to go and risk losing millions. So I think he gets a big payday after next year.

As most have said, if he is healthy he will go and should. He is easily a second rounder, but depending on how the WR pool looks in the draft this year, he could definitely be a 1st rounder.

He's still recovering from Finger Surgery.

That should be fine............

I really hate seeing kids leave early, but the vast majority of the really good ones do it. For the amount of money they can make, I don't blame them either.

He'll be gone. Let's enjoy the one more year we have with him.

Was wondering what the overall opinion of VN was on if Da'Rick will stay for his senior year or leave early for the NFL. Obviously no one knows for sure because alot can happen between now and the 2013 NFL Draft.

I think Da'Rick leaves UT early for the NFL unless an unforseen major event (major injury, suspended/kicked off team) happens. I did a little research and looked up all of the SEC WRs drafted in the 1st Round of the NFL Draft the last 10 drafts (2011-2002). There have been 10 SEC WRs drafted in the 1st round the last 10 drafts. Out of those 10 WRs, 5 left to the NFL with college eligibility legt. 3 WRs left after their JR. year and 2 WRs left after their redshirt JR. year.

Da'Rick had better sophomore year statistics in all major categories than any of the 10 SEC WRs drafted in the 1st round. That doesn't necessarily mean he will leave early for the NFL Draft or be drafted 1st round when he does, but I think it definitely puts things in perspective.

Here is the chart:

Da'Rick's sophomore year vs. other 1st round SEC WRs sophomore year

Da'Rick Rogers: 67 catches, 1040 yards, 9 TDs.

A.J Green: 47 catches, 751 yards, 6 TDs.
Julio Jones: 43 catches, 596 yards, 4 TDs.
Percy Harvin: 59 catches, 858 yards, 4 TDs.
Dwayne Bowe: 39 catches, 597 yards, 5 TDs.
Robert Meachem: 29 catches, 383 yards, 2 TDs.
Craig Davis: 43 catches, 659 yards, 1 TD.
Troy Williamson: 31 catches, 428 yards, 2 TDs.
Matt Jones: Started season at QB for Arkansas.
Michael Clayton: 57 catches, 749 yards, 5 TDs.
Donte Stallworth: 35 catches, 519 yards, 2 TDs.

Da'Rick's statistics his sophomore year in the SEC were head and shoulders above the last 10 SEC WRs who were drafted in the 1st round. Doesn't necessarily mean anything though. Academic problems, off-field trouble, and injury could change much. Also, a great sophomore year doesn't translate into a great junior year and NFL status.

Anyway, most assume that Da'Rick is gone after next year. 2012 WR recruit Quinshad Davis has been quoted as saying UT coaches are recruiting WRs with the pitch of Da'Rick and Hunter being gone after next year. So if UT coaches think Da'Rick is gone I'd say there is a pretty good chance of it.

Sorry for the long post, but what does VN think? Does Da'Rick leave early for NFL? And if he does, is he a 1st round pick?

This sounds like a question for Hyams..he is the Da Rick expert..

I don't know if that would happen. In fact, I highly doubt it will. But it is an interesting thought to think of how much UT's offense would change in one year's time if all 3 left.

Next season's offense will be Tyler Bray at QB throwing it around to Hunter, Rogers, Rivera, and possibly Patterson.

If all 3 (Bray, Rogers, Hunter) leave early for the NFL the 2013 offense would be completely different. I'm thinking Nathan Peterman throwing it around to Jason Croom, Quinshad Davis, Drae Bowles, and Vincent Dallas. Not to mention we would still have the same RB core. Marlin, Bourque, and Neal.

Probably won't happen. But that would be a drastic change to an offense.
