Da'rick?

(Hopefully) last update of the night. Spoke with someone close to Da'Rick. I think most of his punishment will be an internal team issue.

I don't think Da'Rick is going to be charged with assault, so I think he'll get an undisclosed team punishment and move on.

From what I understand, Da'rick was not actually involved in the brawl. He allegedly got in trouble while police were securing the scene. He may have been warned about mouthing off while officers put another player in cuffs, and they finally told him he would be charged with disorderly. He was apparently upset about it and did indeed "tense up" while they took him into custody.

This would seem to jive with what I was hearing over the scanner. Officers only intended to arrest the suspect, but weren't sure who the suspect was. They wanted to question several people from the group of Vols (sounds like they knew it was a Vol who assaulted Russell and the off-duty officer).

My guess is charges will be dropped against Da'Rick as soon as the investigation is fully wrapped up.

I'm thinking Knoxville's finest haven't changed since 1970 when I was arrested inside Neyland for having hair too long (they said I was drunk although I hadn't had anything to drink at all).

So, it was putaining to an assault.

Wow! Move on from to obvious(sp). He tensed up? I wonder what directional controls are, anybody? I remember when I was in school up there in the late 70's, KPD arrested over 800 people on friday night and 700 on Saturday night before an Alabama game. There were all kinds of stories in the Beacon the next week from Graduate students that never used alcohol being arrested for Public Drunkiness,ect... We sat on a wall by the Last Lap and watched the cops grabbing people and stuffing them in paddy wagons without them having time to say or do anything. It's much calmer down there since the drinking age was raised to 21,but kids will be kids, punish and move on. If anyone in Knoxville ever visits Bar Nashville again they should be shot for treason. That dump needs to be shut down forever it's the nastiest bar in Knoxville!!! They were using our kids to draw crowds for their own gain and now the University and fanbase will be punished for their greedy behavior. GO VOLS!!!!

Yeah. The owner states as much in her latest "version" of the story.

Bar Knoxville owner, bouncer describe violence that led to arrests
Morton said she's always welcomed UT athletes as VIPs who get in free. "It gives a little bit of fame to our establishment, and when other customers see that's where the players go, they like to be a part of it."

This place has been allowed to be in business for far too long. It's time to shut it down.

How Dooley comes down of Rogers, however, is what the public, media and other Tennessee players will be watching. per gvx..... hope he doesnt make a example outta him too i mean he was just tryin to break it up !!!!!!!!!!

Dooley needs to be even handed. He can not, should not show any favoratism toward Rogers.

if guys were trying to putain me, id resist too......
seriously, do we have to many cops.....in my small home town, we have city cops, county sheriffs dept with deputies, state troopers, and TBI....for less than 40,000 people in the county.....the only excitement they get is the annual ritual of trying to arrest people on their way to bonnaroo. think of the taxes we are paying to keep ourselves safe from one or two major crimes a year(which are usually domestic and not prevented.)

Some of you guys amaze me. Yep, the cops have it out for us, they put a gun to our football players heads and made them beat a guy up. Are you insane or just stupid?

BTW, to kick a guy (any guy, but a cop???) while he is already on the ground is a thug move.

As for Darick, the (lady) at the bar said the cops have the two in custody that caused the most trouble, fwiw. The BAR needs to be closed because they have just also admitted to serving alcohol to minors.

BTW, they also get a big thank you for telling the world that they are giving special treatment to our players, thank you for the NCAA violation.

How would it be an NCAA violation? It sounds like Bar Knoxville isn't affiliated with the university at all. It sounds like they're just some people from another state who only use the players to boost the bottom line of their sleazy business, and in no way does it benefit the University of Tennssee or its athletic department.

Learn the details first Johnny Jumpsthegun. If reports that Rogers attempted to break up the fight and simply failed to shut up and leave when cops told him then that qualifies as stupidity, but would not necessarily warrant dismissal or suspension in my opinion. However, if he was more significantly involved I definitely think you suspend him indefinitely as Dooley has already done with King and Walls.
