Da'Rick Rogers

I think he'll be good. I think he's going to work out better than Marlon Brown at UGA.;)

When we get to Memphis, I think you'll see our freshman be featured a little bit! Until then we'll rely on the seniors as much as we can! Mark my words! Late in the year when we're playing the scrubs, we'll feature the young guys and get a bump in recruiting from doing it!

Playing UGA this week. Means he will have a breakout game like most do against UGA. :eek:lol:

How long is it gonna take for him to reach his potential? He hasn't really been involved in the offense much. He's got too much talent to just be nothing, but it seems like he's not making too much of an impact this season.

Thoughts?

:lolabove:

He is a true freshman and receiver is our deepest position. Relax,he will be along when he is ready, when do you get out of middle school?

He's a freshman in an offense with 2 standout senior starters, and he's also losing the battle for playing time because of Justin Hunter's ability to run and catch the deep ball. Having said that, in my opinion, I think it is time to bench Zach Rogers. I am tired of watching him drop balls. That kills the offense.

Good points. Yes, I think we'll see more of the youngsters in last 4 games on the schedule.

He is doing just fine. Who cares who catches the passes......... He will be a great one. Book it.

Rogers is getting the playing time, Simms just isnt throwing his way... Few deep ones to him have been overthrown as well.

Agreed. Rogers is fine. Unfortunately it may be his junior year before we really start seeing what he can do, since Simms will be the one distributing again next year.

If Zach Rogers can get receptions, I would think that surely that a great athlete like Da'Rick could get one. I don't think the offense is necessarily the problem.

Jury's still out on whether or not he'll make the catch

Da'Rick is on the field a lot. Especially in the shotgun and always on the 4 WR sets. He's just not getting the ball thrown his way. It will come.

It'll take time. Player development is different for each individual. He'll be fine, just give him time.

This...you have to understand that every person is different and each player's situation is different. He may not develop into the player we all want him to be until his Sophomore or Junior year.

I'm not trying to bash him. I've been impressed with the catches he has made thus far, but especially while GJones was out of the lineup, I expected him to at least get thrown to a little more.

And I realize, he will come along. I just didn't know if anyone knew if he was still dealing with the maturity and focus issues he was dealing with during fall practice.

I've liked what I have seen out of him thus far, I just wish they would get him the ball a little more often. But then again, that takes time given by an OL that is just now becoming semi-relevant.

However, I must say, I am extremely impressed with Hunter.

Andy Kelly did ok behind a stout OL, I'm guessing the less Simms is on his back the better chance he'll be able to make a play or two.

I'm sure it will improve his chances, but Andy Kelly had a weak but accurate arm (some of his best plays were underthrown bombs that the receiver had time to adjust to, but he could throw 12 yards with accuracy) and Simms has a strong but inaccurate one even when not pressured. (I should probably say "erratic" since there are some nice throws mixed in.)

I think I'm gonna agree with ya, remember last weekend how jackson really had a breakout game, he had a int, good hits and stopped patrick peterson from getting any PR yards 2 or 3 times and he was LSU's main recruit that came to Tenn.

Well Da'rick was UGA's main recruit so maybe just maybe it'll be the GJ and Da'rick Rogers show on sat.

Coming to a stadium near you :)

That's what I was thinking.... introduce him to the rest of the country (no that anyone will be watching) against UGA.

Rumor............ Nash is starting QB this weekend.

my thought is he is a fresham in a terrible offense

Wouldnt that be all the more reason to try and include him? Not arguing at all with you..just sayin that we need to throw him a screen and let him work or something. Chunk it deep to him a time or two...never hurts. GO VOLS!!!!!!!

WR is one of the toughest places for freshmen to get early playing time. Its a huge jump from high school because of the complexity of the college game. They no longer can get away with rounding off their routes like they did in high school. Plus, they have to know when to break off their routes when pressure comes on blitzes.

Behind QB, IMHO its the hardest position to play as a Frosh.

Hunter has had some experience on a big stage with his track/junior olympics time that may have helped him progress a bit faster. But, D. Rogers has had several big blocks and even ran the end around without dropping the ball, which is huge for a freshman. He's coming along faster than Milton. . .

Yep, and the big TD reception in the 1st qtr v Oregon for about 25 yards. Oh wait, I forgot, he was 5 yards past the defender in the end zone, but Simms threw it 10 yards past the defender. :-(
Simms throws a decent ball and all of a sudden DR has All-American skills, around here anywhoo.

1. New QB
2. VERY new OL
3. New RB
4. New HC
5. He's a Freshman WR in that ^ offense.

When the first two begin to realize their potential, the others will fall into place.

hey everyone im new to the site but a lifelong vol fan and have read alot on here i have to agree with you tho man darick will be a beast just give him time last weekend after the game i was physically sick i had already started celebrating :( lol
