Da'Rick Rogers suspended indefinitely (merged)

Took this off-season off the boards for the most part. Lured back in last week, was getting excited for rebirth of vols.

Disappointed on the news. Definitely dumber for having read this thread for the past 15 minutes.

I am so sick of hearing about players that have the world on a string doing something to screw it up. Keep your nose clean and soon the NFL is handing you millions of dollars. Ever stop to realize how long it would take any of us "regular" people to amass 5, 10, 20 million? Very, very few ever come anywhere close to it. Pathetic.

I am one of the few holding out hope.. Only waited 90 or so pages to post.

Either way I'm happy to have taken the wind out of my bammer friends this morning by breaking the news, otherwise they'd probably be heckling me to death, and I'd be tearful.

I think it is safe to say that this thread went straight in the crapper after I got out of work.

Excellent job.

Still wishing the best for d'rRogers. Hopefully he pulls his head out of his ass and lets his next 20 or so years be his defining moments, and not the previous few years.

Hubbs responded to a question about Da'Rick on Volquest. His response was:

"I'm trying to find out more, but honestly I'm getting alot of "he's gone, we're moving on."

I've avoided this thread for the most part today. As sad as it sounds , I guess I'm used to this stuff. I have heard about 10 different things and don't know what to believe.

maybe Dooley will be gone soon, moron, idiot, manage your team, you punk, keep enough support around this young man to keep him in the fold

Gut feeling after Dooley said he's more than likely never coming back.

I get the feeling that he's gone for good too. But I did see a post earlier that said Dave Hart just wanted him to sit out for the NC State game because it was during the appeal process. I don't know where the poster got it from though.

I heard it was a fight with CRM.

I heard he left the scene of a crime.

I heard he was smoking the stickiest of the icky.

I heard it was coke and not the stickiest of the icky.

I heard it was an agent.

I heard he was told by Hart he was suspended for 2 games and went off on him. Said no way he sits and Hart said you are done.

I heard he did something at camp and the team made the decision when they got back.

I heard he didn't go to class and it was his last strike. The old.... "I wish you would mess up just once more"

I heard it was his grades , which I knew wasn't true because Hubbs said everyone was good to go.

And the funniest one (which had to be a joke) is that he is claiming the poppy seeds on his food made his test positive. Which I know can happen for real , but seriously doubt happend. I think that was a Seinfeld episode.

Anyway.... That's what I heard and as I said don't know what to think. Hate to lose him on the team. But what can you do?

I know what Dooley said, but does anyone think there is a slim chance he could return? I want some positive news.

The good news is he's gone. We all love his talent but the damage that people like this do to a team is worse then the good he does on the field. Of course if Da'rick could have grown up a little and actually been a team player it would be different. Da'rick Rogers showed what he was made of last November when he had 2 catches against Kentucky. He only played when he wanted to and even then half assed his routes if they weren't drawn up for him. I just don't see him ever being a starter in the NFL. Once EB meets him over the middle Da'rick would fold like a cheap tent.

I hope you're being sarcastic. CDD can not, and should not have to babysit any player on this team. He can't be with them 24/7, and isn't responsible for the stupid crap that they do off the field.

What are all you haters going to do if he gets a short suspension and comes back for the Florida game? Go back in your holes?

I wish he would. It seemed like everything was going really good. Hubbs said he had the best camp of anyone on the team just yesterday. Then boom. This happens.

This guy is Terrell Owens light. He has a ton of ability and the smarts of a turtle ( maybe) . He has cost himself almost any chance he had to play in the NFL. See the saga of Janzen Jackson for the most likely outcome of this tragic-comedy. I just dont get it- if I had a really good chance of being a first or second rd pick in 2 years and being able to make 2-3 million USD for siging my name to a contract, I think that I could a. go to class b. give up street drugs c. not be the most obnoxious person in Knoxville for 24 months. The lack of intelligence and self-control here is staggering. Mike Griffith made an astute observation this AM on the radio when he pointed out that the dissention and termoil of DR pretty much cancels out his unquestioned ability. The team is probably better off without this guy. Go Vols play withe emotion and purpose this year. No more Ky -type efforts. Darick who?
