Danny White Issues Apology

The University has destroyed getting into the stadium. The only stadium in the country I've been to with this problem and I've been to multiple college and pro stadiums. It is an embarrassment. We sit in section V on the West side. For decades we went through the gates on the West side mainly gate 17. Walked up 1 half flight of stairs and right to our seats. The last couple of seasons we are forced into the **** show at gate 21.

Whoever has come up with this and traffic control needs to be fired immediately and replaced.

I see Danny White is taking the blame but there has to be other people responsible for this. I do not trust what we are being told. Seeing is believing here on this topic. They always tell us they are going to fix things and it doesn't happen or takes forever. I'll believe it when I see it, but it truly is inexcusable.

Many garages are a total **** show too. Namely G17 and the one beside it. Lake avenue DOES NOT MOVE and people are literally trapped in these garages for up to hours without moving. Not only embarrassing and inexcusable, but it is a urgent public safety issue.

Someone had a medical emergency outside of gate 21 about 30 minutes before kickoff and personnel was scrambling to even get to the person. Not sure how they even got the person out. Just a total disaster.
I'm in S and used to enjoy the same ease of getting through the gate like you and into my seats quickly in years past. They shut those gates down to non-premium ticket holders a fews ago after it was also becoming a cluster with too much foot traffic out front. The lines coming into the gates and the cross traffic coming through those lines became a pushing/shoving match. An older woman (don't know age) ended getting trampled on and injured and they quickly stopped the access for our gates. It would certainly relieve some of the pressure on the big gates like 21 if they could figure out a way to safely get some people in the premium only gates out front which have very short lines now.

Not sure what the complaint is about the scanners. I got through them effortlessly. Added both tickets to my apple wallet and double tapped my lock button and bam I got in. It was my first game so what confused me were all the premium gates that I didn't know were apparently not for public use. So I'd wait in line only to be told I need to go someplace else.

The speakers are bad throughout the stadium. You can't hear the calls or the band.
There are 2 CC boards that will show the penalties as they are spoken. Great idea as I don't know anyone who can hear the refs. Same level as the scoreboard.

Somebody needs to readdress the traffic flow after games. We park one block from Alcoa hwy, straight shot to 40. However, we get routed directly towards the stadium and into the heaviest congestion. It took 2.5 hours to get back to Farragut last night.
Whoever does the traffic plans after games is an idiot.

He should also apologize for pricing fans out of games. Good luck if you’re like me 5+ hours away and want to take your family to a Vols game. I wish something could be done about the ticket ‘fee’… I understand prices will go up but $40-60 per ticket in fees is criminal.

There are typically groups on here or Facebook or wherever who sell their seats, no fees.

I'm sure it's been talked about already. But they put up temporary fencing outside gate 10. It was set up to funnel the crowd coming from the Circle Park area and it was a complete disaster. It caused a ton of frustration as the crowd was at a standstill. Eventually people got fed up with it and broke down the fence and started climbing over it to get out.

I'm not sure what the goal was as it was unnecessary. It was 30 yards away from the gates. But it created a mob mentaility. Danny **** the bed on that one. It was genuinely my worst experience getting to the stadium and I guarantee will make fans stop going if they continue to try and control people like that.

Is that an official statement from Tennessee Athletics or is that your assumption?

They did not show replays, the entire game. Why does every lower bowl section have a TV monitor if they won’t show replays? I can see the field in real time.
Assumption, and I can only see the Jumbotrons from my seats. They showed replays there all day and didn't show the challenged UGA TD.

That’s even more frustrating to me. I sit underneath the upper deck and the Jumbotron is not visible. The TV’s did not show anything. I had to wait minutes for Mike Keith to catch up to figure out who caught what pass or who made which run. They have completely screwed us from knowing what is going on.

As we were walking out the fenced area along the West Tower between 17 and 15 on the street was being ridden down by fans trying to leave. We watched as eventually some students and men just collapsed the fence and people scrambled over to get out. Woodstock mindset??

absolutely ridiculous there isn't a way to walk between the stadium and G10 without going through the parking garage - way too many gates around the student entrance and in front of gate 10/9 now - if the main thing is opening up Truly tailgate to everyone, there are WAY better ways to do this without the cluster f they created with all the changed in the security perimeters.

The bus/shuttle area is a free for all. We finally gave up and just walked all the way back to Market Square.
We walked back to the Civic Center as they were only running 2 busses for some reason. We left when the buses loaded up, and got there just as the buses were pulling away to go back towards the stadium. We would have had waited at least one more turn, probably two.

It was bizarre how few busses they had working. It’s they were totally unprepared for a crowd.

I didn't go to the ETSU game so I don't know if it was the same last week. Last year though, they had more running for sure.

They also changed the parking to $25 and no need to buy the shuttle pass.

That might be one reason for the crowded buses.

Now that they've rolled the parking and bus together, some people who previously parked there but walked may have taken the bus as they had to pay for it anyway

I get that, but they had more busses running last year. If it stays the same, I'll ride it in but walk back.

I also had a problem when leaving the game on Saturday. We sit at the top of X1, and when the game was over we walked up to the elevators and one of the light blue shirts denied us access to the elevator. She said they were 'reserved for the people in the suites'. My wife has serious mobility issues and wears a knee brace on her right knee. When I pointed that out to the young woman, she said 'I'm sorry - that's what I was told.' I plan to contact the university about that today.

They made up for the lost seat count in those areas by adding artificial rows with bingo parlor chairs to the back of the lower deck, where you can see maybe 60% of the field and no game clocks. They need to at least take those TVs, as seeing more of the field is better than knowing what the decibel reading is.

That is ridiculous!
