In today's climate of big money college football, a recruit would be silly to think that his coaches are going to be there his entire time at the university. They better start picking the right school that fits for them and their families and stop worrying about the coaches so much. I understand their emotions but they are going to need to start looking at it differently. Thank you O'Brien, you will love Knoxville.

Excellent points and I also thank you Danny O'Brien.

A particular coach might help sway a kid by selling them on the school and the program, but bottom line the kid and family have to like the school. If I would have been 5 inches taller and 80 pounds heavier in 1974 I would have gone to UT if Elmer Fudd was the coach. Wouldn't have mattered - I loved the school and K'ville.

I knew someone would miss the point. O'Brien could be the next Darwin Walker or the next Chase Nelson. Is that better or are you going to give me Nelson's position changes and injuries too?

I didn't miss the point. If you're going to make a point, then you should use evidence that supports your point. Jeffery did not.

I don't think we will ever have another player like Darwin Walker. He was an awesome player at UT and was a grade A engineering student. I'm an engineer and I commend someone like Darwin that could play at that high level while keeping his studies up to get an engineering degree. I hope O'Brien is as good a player though!!

Not saying the kid will waiver but I hate hearing him speak about developing a relationship with a coach no longer on the staff. Just glad Tennessee provides him some good hunting and fishing :)

Not to worry. That's a very old video. He has since reaffirmed his commitment to TENNESSEE, not any particular coach.

Mods might want to add something about O’Brien recruiting for us in the title so we don’t induce heart palpitations in some of us.

Dooley and Co are building something great here. God bless those of us who can see it and appreciate it.

I'm onboard. :good!:
That's yet to be seen.

According to Volquest, Danny O'Brien has already assumed a leadership role on the team. That's what this team will need this fall.
