Danny O'Brien suspended (now returning to practice)

Fair enough. But I'll have my cane ready. As soon as you put your foot in your mouth be ready. I knowI will be.

With as often as I place foot in mouth, your opportunities shall be many and varied.

Given the tone of Butch's comments at his presser, my personal impression is that Danny knows he has screwed up and is willing to pay his dues to be reinstated. The timing of all this is supremely disappointing but as fans let's be careful to not throw the baby out with the bathwater.

I never saw any clips of O'Brien dominating people in practice likebi did Shuttle and Khali....play the freshmen.

To be that highly rated as recruits and not be into "proper football shape" is completely absurd.

I played football and wrestled in HS and the conditioning required for playing football with a high motor was nothing compared to what is wasbfor wrestling.

If he's too out of shape then.the fact us we got a overrated lazy pos Clowney type of recruit. Give me in shape high motor guts like Barnett over in daynof the week over these mountain OUs guys that need a few months to get in football shape....wtf...if you too get winded playing football at that age to compete then you are one slobbish out of shape overrated pos.....

Thus I'm not buying this too winded talk out all...

Hopefully it won't true because the last DT guy hyped through try e roof who was always too winded in the beginning was Mo Couch...a big time bust.

Mary Jane..... My guess.... 90 % of the time its Mary Jane.....

Very unlikely this is it

Don't think he has been hit with the 1 game suspension tag which is the step before indefinite suspension

So no insiders with the reason??

Hoping it's not NCAA rules related

As has been mentioned many times throughout this thread, he didn't play his senior season in high school due to be being ruled ineligible following his transfer from De La Salle. It also hasn't helped that he wasn't an early entry like Tuttle. It's not surprising that he is not in playing shape, we knew that he was hovering around 340 when he got here. When it's all said and done, I think he is our next great DT but because he doesn't show it this year some people will overreact.

Damn you Stephen King! How much longer will we have to wait for this indolent loser to publish his next book? Everybody knows there ain't nothin' to writin' a book, hell I finished my 7th grade story project in a weekend!

overrated lazy pos Clowney type of recruit

Some around here are too quick to play the "so you think you know better than the coach" card, but I have to say, I'm glad you're not the coach.

I needed the wizened (and wiseass) veteran who could forego understandable jealousy to help bring along a vastly superior younger/more virile talent. You have to respect the thrice divorced codger who can dismiss the court ordered paternity tests and struggles with white powder, all to pass the baton...for the greater good. Don't think me ungrateful buddy. :salute:
You've got more miles on you than a cuban taxi.

We had to run 6 miles before wrestling practice. LOL

You don't have to buy it, but it doesn't make it any less true. And I would imagine during your glory days they didn't have you sit out for concussions? A little early to declare people busts when you don't really know the situation.

Khalil frequently getting overshadowed is kind of telling. Not saying he's a bust, but maybe he's a longer developmental situation than we'd hoped.
Maby he might be as dominate as reports from camp said but maby he just is not in shape enough to play as much as we all want him too.

Pathetic!

Of all my years coming to this site, I have never been so disappointed in NOT O'Brien, but the posters on this thread! Is there no one person in 5 pages who can see what just happened here?

This is nothing but a smokescreen to have OU try and test the middle. Meanwhile Butch is about to release the Pain Train on the Sooners who will fight in Vain!

Wake up folks. Butch is about to release Paul Bain at BOTH DT spots. Vickers and Williams etc will start the scrub time beginning 4th Q. OU will be down to their 4th or 5th string RB by then.

Who is Paul Bain?

I never said he's a bust...Im saying I want to see a lot more of him against Oklahoma. A guy with his level of hype should in fact contribute as a freshman.

He's no ordinary true freshman supposedly.

KMac was ready to come out after a couple of plays against BG. He's a big guy, hasn't lost all the weight the coaches wanted him lose and he sat out his senior season. He'll play, but apparently he needs more conditioning to be full-go. Coaches will rotate him with Tuttle and Vickers, and we'll see how it goes. O'Brien will be missed. Whatever he did, he really let his teammates down at a critical time.

this makes no sense. he played two series at the end of the game. they were both 3 and outs. his hands weren't on his hips after 2nd down.
