I remember reading a lot of positive things about him at the start of the year, looking at his stats. 8 tackles... really?

yeah... they went nuts about his move... I guess it didn't work out. IIRC, he is the one being penalized the most.

Another Kifffin recruit. He did switch positions and in the beginning, it seemed to be a good move. Maybe, he is still adjusting to that position on the college level.

he is a DT playing in a platoon. not only that the position he plays is more responsible for occupying blockers to free others.

I actually think he's done pretty well. The DTs aren't getting pushed around nearly as bad as they did last year. He hasn't been getting a lot of penetration like Jackson and Couch have gotten but he's definitely done a decent job holding his ground and eating space. Also just a sophomore and he's new to the position (and recently added a lot of weight) so he'll probably get better.

Hood is a solid gap defender that allows the lbs to come in and clean up. He isn't great but he's solid.

Agree with all of this, another off season in the weight room and he will be even better.

Regardless of his play, thumbs up to him keeping his nose clean and not becoming a problem child like many thought he might.

Yeah he gets blocked down fairly easy by good players. I noticed in the LSU game every time Mo Couch came in he would drive same olineman back

Didn't see him get pushed around much as some are claiming. There was a melt down when Kiffin signed him and those people are still trying to prove their point. Armchair QB agenda posting at its best.

This is his first year at the position. He has 2 more years to get better. He is the best option we have to back up Couch and hopefully we have a couple of studs come in for him to back up the next 2 years. It will be great to have some depth from solid players like Hood and not have to depend on him to carry the load.

That's all you have here, armchair qbs, the same people that probably couldn't hack it playing high school football. They always think they know more than coaches.

Even if we get Sentimore or another DT stud, Malik is leaving and we may have to lean on Hood the first part of the year until the new guys make adjustments to SEC football. Much like the Couch situation. I am really glad we have Hood even if he isn't all SEC. He will be improved next year and the next.

I feel like he's done a good job. he automatically gets double teamed which frees Jackson up. I think without him we would be horrible stopping the run. He's so big he takes up 2 holes. Honestly it could just be a testament to how good lance Thompson is at coaching. Him and Peter sirmon have done fantastic jobs
