Daniel Bituli better be starting at MLB

This is the same dude that thought Dobbs was heisman worthy and will be starter next year at Pittsburgh and that Derek Barnett wasn't as good as miles garret...

Why are we even arguing with him?

The fact he thinks Jumper sucks makes me want him to play more at this point. Lol.

It's called transference. You see, you have built such a negative feeling toward a particular individual, that you now believe that anything he says must be wrong or something that you should oppose.
I.e. E,g, and therefore, hereto and by which, you have, hence, in essence, transferred all control of your normal thought processes whence it cometh from said individual who has, in reality, taken command of your mind, per se.
It's really just psychology 101. :hi:

Bituli did get some time at MLB last year. I'm confused.

According to UTSports:

This is what Bituli did last year:

Made two tackles against Tennessee Tech (11/5)
Had one tackle in win at Georgia (10/1)
Made first tackle of career vs. Florida (9/24)

This was Jumpers' stats:

Enjoyed breakout season, making six of his seven starts at MIKE linebacker in place of an injured Darrin Kirkland Jr. and finishing fourth on the team with 61 tackles (37 solo) with 4.0 tackles for loss, one interception, one forced fumble, four passes defended, and one QB hurry
Started at MIKE linebacker at Vanderbilt (11/26) and finished with two tackles
Came off the bench against Missouri (11/19) and made eight tackles (six solo), including one TFL
Played MIKE linebacker off the bench vs. Kentucky (11/12), recording four tackles (two solo)
Had two tackles, 0.5 TFL and one QB hurry against Tennessee Tech (11/5)
Started at Will linebacker at South Carolina (10/29), contributing three tackles and one quarterback hurry
Recorded three tackles and one QB hurry vs. Alabama (10/15)
Started at MLB over five-game stretch (Ohio, Florida, Georgia, Texas A&M, Alabama) in place of injured Darrin Kirkland Jr., racking up 39 tackles, 2.5 TFLs, one forced fumble, one interception and two passes defended in those games
Had 10 tackles and one TFL and made first interception of career in the third quarter at Texas A&M (10/8), picking off Trevor Knight on a tipped ball

Recorded career-high eight tackles (four solo) and had one pass breakup in win vs. Florida (9/24)
Made first start of the season at MLB vs. Ohio (9/17), posting career-high seven tackles (five solo), one TFL

They compared him to Jarrad Davis last year. He showed his skills on special teams as a big hitter with great athleticism.

There is no excuse for a player like Daniel Bituli to not be out there as a sophomore ahead of someone like Colton Jumper. No excuse.

Good God man....they compared him to Jarrad Davis. How many times are you going to regurgitate that?

Don't know Bituli's 40 time. But on the field he has similar explosiveness. The coaches compared him to Jarrad Davis specifically because of how explosive he was at 6'3" 235 lbs.

if you buy what the coaches are selling your just throwing money away.. OJ Owens was supposed to be Dale Carter. Chris Donald was supposed to be Leonard Little. don't buy into the coach speak..

Did they really promise to play him a lot last year? Just wondering

Yes. Thig came out prior to the SCar game and told the media that Bituli "would get 20-25 snaps" the next game, and Bituli didn't get off the sideline with the exception of special teams. Here's the quote....

Although Tennessee expects star linebacker Darrin Kirkland Jr. to return to action at South Carolina, the Volunteers are still preparing freshman middle linebacker Daniel Bituli to see significant snaps against the Gamecocks.

The 6-foot-3, 235-pound Nashville native has recorded just four tackles on the season, but Bituli has impressed coaches with development, earning the opportunity to see more playing time.

“Our saying is you get what you deserve, and he deserves to be on the field,” linebackers coach Tommy Thigpen said.

“We’re looking to play him more at the MIKE, probably 20-25 snaps against South Carolina.”

Additionally, as Coach Doug Mathews has said many times, for some reason we even didn't get him (and other freshmen like Warrior) significant snaps and experience in the bowl game.

I agree but also, one can see pure bias in psychology 101. Almost every Tennessee player according to D4H is HOF level potential. As much as I love the Vols, I know that it's just not true.

If Colton Jumper was black and his name was Jamal Jumper but all other measurements and stats were the same, this wouldn't even be a thread.

Has he proven to be as good as Jarrad Davis?

D4H knows so much more than ant coach in college or the NFL. Maybe we should take up a collection and buy all football teams an pit them against each other. That way we could see one football game which would never end because each team would be perfect. On the other hand, maybe we should all put him on ignore and never have to worry about how good of a football fan, coach, owner he is.

You guys who continue to feed his ego are killing the rest of us.

Of course not. He's a big, physical, talented kid but despite promising to play him a lot last year, the coaches got him no playing time other than special teams. So while we all think he has great potential, we've yet to see him get any significant playing time at all....we don't know what we have in him at this point.

Edit: I warned you against reading any of D4H's posts Tech....don't do it bro, no good can come of it.

That's why I still don't trust this staff. Shoop and Thig were both here and Thig talked about how DB was going to play and yet never did.

I hate to speak for another poster, but might it be possible that D4H didn't attend those classes.
He, instead, got the notes from others within the athletic dept who may, or may not have taken good copious notes.

I'm at the point that I hope Jumper starts and shows out this season just to shut up all of the pricks in this thread.

Constructive criticism is one thing, but this is piling it on. He is one of us, you guys remember that, right?

I know he is a good recruiter but I think Thig will be the next coach to be replaced. Absolutely astounding to be where we are at LB in year 5. Inexplicable!

That's complete BS. If Jumper had played lights out, shown to be very athletic and made plays all over the field then you'd be right....this wouldn't even be a thread.

Yep....and let's not forget Brian Darden who was to be the starter at RB the minute he arrived on campus. Second coming of Gale Sayers.

I remember when Eric Westmoreland and Dwayne Goodrich only played special teams. That turned out ok.
