A few pages back, I posted that if he went by the same star rating as I did, then I had us dropping to 3.6 stars, not 3.2.
However, I think stars are not that important, especially when you get on campus. Some 3* players beat out 4* players. Once they arrive to campus, stars go away.
Also, star ratings aren't the best way to compare classes. Some teams only take 18-22 recruits some years, while others take over 30. One team might have a low star rating because they took a punter, kicker, and maybe a long snapper.
I hated losing the players that transferred, but it's attrition. Every team deals with it.
I think you're right in the aspect that just because a player has 4 or 5 stars by their name doesn't mean anything until they play some snaps in an SEC football game, right?
No more free passes for Jones. He recruited these players and in the end he is responsible. I am tired of hearing excuses. We cannot say we had a top 5 class at this point. Losing 5-6 of the 4 star players has reduced the 2014 class to a mediocre level. That is the reality, you either keep the players or you give up saying it was a top 5 class. Excuses as to why it happened are irrelevant. Good for discussion but irrelevant.
Yes. 3* Jashon Robertson has outplayed his mediocre ranking and offer list. Meanwhile, Kerbyson who was offered by UF, Bama and USC has been one of the worst OL we have. Either due to a limited skill set, trouble comprehending schemes or less than stellar OL coaching; likely some combo of all three.
More times than not the higher ranked players perform adequately in relation to their rankings. However, I'm not ready to say a 4* CB who's yet to play a down in college is better than another 4* CB who has year in the program but didn't play a significant role as a true FR.

Didn't say that. Of course reading comprehension isn't your strong suit. Try again.
How about any stats? Payne couldn't even see the field on special teams. He was an undersized corner that would have rarely saw the field. He got passed up by Moseley, Gaulden, & Evan Berry on the depth chart. Got Abernathy possibly Amadi and or Martin coming in. I wish Butch could have pulled the Tabor kid that went to Florida if he was going to land someone from the DC area.
Learn the game son. He's an offensive guard that was asked to play tackle. That type of change in position tends to expose flaws such as slower lateral movement. It's comments like the one above where you come of as a psuedointellectual windbag. Making a definitive assertion without any knowledge or factual information behind it is not positive trait.
This is my stance on this subject spelled out to those who like to jump to conclusions-
While I don't think losing these players is the end of the world, I don't see it as a good thing either. As has been stated by others here, we are on the ground floor of the rebuilding process in the toughest conference in college football. At this point any attrition is a hit to that process and sets us back in a competition with programs that just keep getting stronger. Yes, it's true that our rivals all deal with the same thing but they are better equipped to deal with it than we are at this time. In order to catch up in the race we need these defections to lower.
Where my problem lies in this debate is with the ones who immediately go on the attack of anyone who shows concern. We all want this staff to be the one to turn things around and they have shown promise of this in some areas. There are areas that need improving and that's where these debates stem from. Yet, whenever these debates come up, some people get all worked up and start calling for fan cards. Believe it or not, it is possible to support a coach and still question some things about him. I like Jones over all and really hope he does get it, but chanting "Butch gets it" over and over won't make it happen if he's not the one.
