Landry Thompson, 13, Taken Into Custody After Dozing Off In Dance Instructor's Car

All for falling asleep in car after a dance class with professional dancers...

The Instructor, a male, stopped to get directions and both fell asleep in car to get a nap before driving 12 hrs back to their hometown...police showed up, pulled them from car and handcuffed them asking who the girl was...Instructor stated she was his student and that he had Notary signed statement from parents that she was allowed to be with him. The police didnt care and took girl into custody and gave her over to CPS...even after contacting the mother and her telling them she was supposed to be with the instructor, they still held them for hours...

welcome to the Police State, where you're guilty until proven innocent...I would sue their ass...

I view minors & age of consent different.

when I was 23 I met a girl who was 17 who said she was 18. It was only by sheer luck I found out the truth before it,was too late.

now a days u gotta card them. Cant tell at all anymore or trust them.

Edit. Ras approves this message.

Well depending on the state you were in she could be perfectly legal. It's 16 in many states.

First, I don't care if they are black, white, asian or whatever, my teenaged daughter is not going to be traveling alone with a young male.

Secondly, doesn't this sound a little weird?

On the way back to their hotel with Thompson and another dancer, Hurd, who also goes by the name Emmanuel Cross, stopped at a gas station to get his bearings. "We were on the GPS trying to figure out where the hotel was and we sat there and we dozed off," Hurd said, according to NewsOn6.com.
I'm not saying I completely agree with the response the police had, but I can see the initial suspicion.

Yeah, I'm with you on this. I think this is actually a case were the police didn't over-react.

I'm with you as well. The whole, we just dozed off story doesn't smell right to me, and I have 3 daughters.

The stuff that happens afterwards does concern me. They should have just called the parents and told them to come pick up the girl, not sent her to children and youth. The guy should have been let go immediately once his story checked out.

WTF? Why would he be carrying around a notarized statement to be her guardian???

I can see a permission slip or note or something. But a notarized statement? That's a little weird.
